Noel rock is standing drinking a pint outside a pub in Dublin today. I cudnt care less just wondering if that is allowed?
He is at the swan it has a big outdoor area so I would say he had food as well.
Not that it matters, a pint outside should be allowed imo

Exactly, by any historic measure, it's not even a minor public health issue. Has been shown to kill those with an average age of 84, that's two years higher than the present average life expectancy in Ireland.

It has killed thousands of people in the US under 75 with no pre-existing conditions, 8% of the total.
It has killed hundreds in the UK of similar profile.

Look at the age profile of ICU admissions in Ireland, the people who pulled through because there was ICU capacity to treat them. It has median age of 62. Capacity that won't be there if our health service is overwhelmed.
In Canada 10% of ICU admissions under 40.

To suggest it is a minor public health issue, well you are spouting ignorant ill-informed nonsense.
A disease that has the capacity to overwhelm hospital capacity is not a minor public health issue.

    Bank Bar and Palace Bar

Is the Bank Bar not closed though? Do they even have outside seating?

Risk of death at 80 is about 10% in general life

At 80 you generally have months left

Non wet pubs are allowed serve alcohol to customers without food, simple.

Walk around Dublin and see the facts rather than posting an article from the IT.

    Tell us , where?

Whoever has decided that schools must remain open should hold their hand up so we know who to blame when it’s decided that level 3 isn’t working, and then Later when level 4 isnt working and we eventually admit that we have to close schools to get numbers down.

I would suggest that Anyone receiving the PUP have to homeschool their kids for two weeks, and schools have a lower attendance Made up of frontline workers who have to Work.

Review the numbers after two weeks if it makes a difference, and then all schools close for 2 weeks if not 3 at Halloween.

Have you evidence that Covid is spreading rapidly in schools? I have yet to see some.

I think the department of education may read my posts
The Department of Education has said the reopening of schools has led to no significant change in the proportion of school-aged children contracting Covid-19.

It says data shows that the proportion of cases found among the four- to 18-year-old age group has remained steady since August, at between 14.3% and 14.1% of all Covid cases.

The Department says this supports the hypothesis that children are not at increased risk from Covid-19 in the school setting.

According to the new figures, 5,890 school students and teachers have been involved in mass testing which is or has been taking place in 236 schools around the country.

The Department says testing at the 236 schools has led to the detection of an additional 90 cases of the virus. This equates to a rate of 1.5%. The comparable rate when similar mass testing has taken place in the community stands at 6%

See no one actually seems to know. Some are saying you can serve without food now in Dublin, legally, and you're saying otherwise.
I wish we could get to the bottom of this!

You can't, "wet" pubs in Dublin aren't allowed to open yet.

It was laid out in the announcements

Again after multiple people saying it, your legally not allowed a drink in Dublin without food.

Went out myself during lunch in work and its the same as it was a few weeks ago.

Walk around Dublin... yeah because people can have a drink while waiting on their food. Its 15 outdoors with food for a pint

They are all wet pubs now regardless of whether they serve food, seen as the can only serve you outdoors, in October, in Ireland

Sligo is rising in cases - the last time I looked it was 169 cases - in the last few weeks that has jumped to 240 and eventhough Sligo is second lowest countrywide it must be a worrying trend that the areas where the population is spread wide in the country and where social isolation is normally a given anway - that numbers are rising so quickly. I think this is key to any future restriction decisions.

    Bank Bar and Palace Bar

Been in both, food to be ordered while Dublin was in level 2.

    Since level 3

    Bank is closed.

Palace outdoor for 15 people food to be ordered. Saw plenty being refused when asking for just a drink.

No its all in private homes, where students aged 4-19 certainly don't live.

How are cases in schools reported ?, 2 secondary schools in my area with cases, but never mentioned on media just a email or letter to parents notifying them about it adding if you haven't been contacted by now then your child was not in close contact, your child can attend school as normal.

32 admissions to hospital. God be with the days when people used to claim we wouldn't see a rise in hospital admissions. There was some ejit on here a day or two ago saying hospital admissions weren't rising. And he got a few thanks too. You wonder about people.

I think we should all stop with this 'blaming' culture. It's not helpful. The HSE and Government had months to get their house in order re hospitals, ICU and a proper 'Living with Covid' plan that wasn't altered a few days after it was published.
It's also belittling some people who have lost their jobs and are severely impacted by this Pandemic...this number is growing daily. Everyone I meet is struggling with the current situation and while I'm tempted to point out that we need to look at the ever increasing impacts of the Covid Restrictions, I won't...

I hope the HSE has factored in all the cases of hypothermia from these hopefully hardy souls!

So...you've no proof it's being transmitted in schools then? Schools are controlled environments. They're following procedures. I can guarantee you, many private households are not and are having many people over to visit.

Thankfully we are managing things much better here, in no small part down to the efforts of our educators, and the proportion of cases in 5 to 14 years olds is falling and is stable for all school aged.

Yes , and hard enough to get a bite to eat in town with that restriction on numbers outside ...and the weather .
    Never mind a drink !

Can you provide actual evidence from a more reliable source rather than some far left Irish 'socialist' who wants a full lockdown at any cost?

Have you evidence that Covid is spreading rapidly in schools? I have yet to see some.

Evidence isn’t available because the tracing is terrible.
Today for instance 67% of cases have unknown transmission.

Apply the timeline of two weeks and it’s clear the biggest change that has influenced the increase of cases is the return of education .

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we should close the schools, we should just acknowledge that it’s contributing greatly to the spread.
