Yes but when Dublin hit 200, even with its population density , there was a lot of discussion about increasing restrictions .
So why is Cork different ?
Those numbers are appalling and there is no wiggle room atm in the Cork hospitals .
Those other counties have Dublin and Midlands hospitals to go to.
44 people on trolleys in Cork and many people inc Waterford are shipped to Cork if they have heart attacks out of hours. Same with emergency surgeries of the weekend. You need emergency op for blocked Ureter in Waterford you get shipped to Cork.

As others said before Dublin has 2.5 times population of Cork .
So that number in Cork is roughly 270 in Dublin! :0
With no hospital beds or ICU beds left there as of last night , has Cork started to use surge capacity yet ?

I dont get that though, according to 2020 census the population of Dublin is about 1.2million; Cork ~200k.

    So should it be 6x?

Why is the north so bad... for some context, here is a snippet from an email I got today about a race I had entered (and will not be travelling to)

"In total, athletes from 14 countries will battle it out for top honours in the majestic Mourne Mountains next Saturday, the 17th October 2020"

This race should not be going ahead, almost all races down south have been cancelled since March.

Who said Cork is different? You're trying to make something out of nothing now.

    No ACE .
You are deflecting from those Cork numbers by saying other counties are more concerning
If numbers were bad in Dublin, I and others from Dublin would at least admit that .

Do you not think that Cork needs to at least go to the same restrictions as Dublin with numbers like that ?
I have family and friends there and they all think wet pubs should not be open at this stage .

107 today out of interest when did Cork last report over 100 cases in a day?

We are at the same restrictions as Dublin  I have literally no idea what you're rambling on about.
You realise the whole country is at level 3, yes?

Again today in Lidl Nutgrove mask wearing by staff poor. One had no face cover of any kind, not even a mask dangling from the ear like 2 others had.

We need to hold steady. Level 3 restrictions will plateau this virus.

Hang in there, and let's not destroy eachother, for 24 counties, case numbers will continue to increase for next 7 days, so expect a bumpy road.

I can't remember the highest daily figure for Cork but 107 is very high and a worry

A lot of those surgeries will soon have to be diverted to some of the private hospitals , but if emergency will still be in A&E in Cork and Waterford . South Tipp Gen filling up too .

The population of Cork is 500,000.

Figured that was it, 200k sounded tiny. Google led me astray. Cheers.

Yeah agreed, it'll have no material effect for at least at a minimum of another two-three weeks, circulation doesn't dwindle minutes after levels of restriction are imposed.

The curtain twitchers would want to check themselves.

Exactly what I said to my husband. Its an absolute joke. I was stopped at two checkpoints on my way to work today which is in education so have to be there.

Meanwhile they send her up North to achieve what? They already have a Northern correspondence who could do any interviews from there.

Is she going to self isolate now for 14 days or go back mixing with everyone tomorrow?

What impression will that give to everyone in Ireland if up North today + then back in rte studio tomorrow.

I'm making a complaint to rte.

Don't forget to mention Marty Morrissey in Kilcar, Donegal doing a meaningless report on how disappointed they are with the Gaa decision to cancel their game .

There is no need for their reporters or any reporter to be travelling anywhere

What's the difference between these travelling to do reports and Golfgate apart from the sheer numbers involved in golfgate?

Can anyone tell me the turn around time from getting a covid test and getting your result? I've to be tested tomorrow (shortness of breath and chest pains feels like lungs but it's very mild pain)
Will I know the result by Sunday?

I thought that too but was corrected a few weeks ago and told by the Rebels it was x 2.5 ! ;)

It's what the ECDC recommend. We also record the underlying conditions, if any.
