So covid rules classing within 2 metres as a close contact may have cost us playoff place in the football...

Adam Idah and Aaron Connolly were ruled out of Ireland's Euro 2020 play-off against Slovakia as a result of being a close contact of a member of the travelling party who tested positive for the coronavirus... The member of the backroom staff had tested negative in Dublin on Tuesday morning but a positive result came from a test in Bratislava on Wednesday... If they were in the UK, they would have been perfectly entitled to play, but Ireland has more stringent rules and we had to abide by the medical advice."

SARS and MERS say Hi 👋

    What about them?

I understand the irony of posting this here but...we are absolutely OBSESSED with Conornavirus in Ireland. It has become all prevailing. This is just ridiculous.
There are lots of diseases. There are lots of ways to die. We normally don't focus on that - otherwise life is diminished.
Some perspective needed here. Other countries are not in a state of national panic.

Some people are obsessed with pointing out that other countries are not obsessed, but then when you even take the merest of glances at other countries news agencies, turns out they are pretty fúcking obsessed too.

Once in a generation pandemic that has fundamentally changed how we live our lives and consequences of not changing will do that I suppose.

But there is some relief, here is Tom with sports.

"the entire squad has tested positive for covid"

Ah shít. Fúck you Tom.

Department of Education warns primary schools to have contingency plans in the event of Covid-19-related closure

So it looks like schools are no longer a core priority.

Maybe a journalist may actually ask someone in charge about it and not let them waffle the question away like Donnelly did the other night.

This part did make me chuckle.

    Carrier pigeon?

Also no reference to the poor broadband the school may have.

Problem is some people don't know what personal responsibility means.

You take responsibility for yourself, we can't expect people to take responsibility for people they don't know, it's foolish to think we can.
We had county's that demonstrated they can take responsibility, they were punished because of it. What's the point of even bothering anymore, no incentive for doing the right thing.

I am losing my sense of smell. My girlfriend told me this morning my car stinks of rotting corpses. Found a rotten sandwich behind my seat. I had no idea. Should I get tested? It's the only "symptom" I have.

They might not but they are also very tired. Keeping them onside rather than pointing out their alleged failings tends to be a better approach.

The rest of Europe is getting on with life and not obsessed like the Irish with this virus... eh no.

A random snippet from Linked in News:
    * Wearing a mask outside will become compulsory in Poland from Saturday, as the country reported 4,280 coronavirus cases on Thursday – a new daily record.
    * Italy has made masks mandatory in public in both indoor and outdoor spaces.
    * The Madrid High Court has struck down a new lockdown imposed by the Spanish government on Madrid and nine surrounding towns, arguing that it infringed on the fundamental rights of the almost 5 million people affected.
    * Germany has set a curfew for bars and restaurants in urban areas, including Berlin, Munich and Hamburg, as the country recorded 4,058 new cases on Thursday – the highest daily tally since April.
    * Brussels has closed bars and cafes for at least a month, while bars in Paris will remain shut for two weeks.

Ideally if you could find some catsh1te and rub it all over your hands in the same way as we have been shown to wash them. Then put your nose between your hands and you should know if you have fully lost your smell and maybe have covid:confused:

Indo reporting extra week closure of schools at mid term. Which would suggest a level 4 or 5 then.

Correct. Country is full of lazy, selfish people who refuse to take any exercise to build up their immune systems.

SARS was eradicated. MERS never left the Middle East and only has around 200 cases per year and falling.

There was an effort for vaccines for both and the data has been reused for COVID.

Agreed, so your original post was wrong. We've never had a vaccine for a coronavirus because we've never been able to create one.

Not because they've never presented more than mild symptoms and over the counter medication works.

I fear if they close the schools then they won't open til after Christmas possibly Easter....just like March again.

The fantasy that we will be allowed visit family over Christmas needs to end. We won't but it won't stop people.

Or peeps who won't go for appointed test, or peeps who won't stay at home when showing symptoms etc.
