It must be tough being so devoid of empathy. Without it this all must genuinely seem nuts to you.

Rather than getting angry with posts like the above, I think we need to show some compassion and understand that he simply doesn't have the capacity to grasp what's going on. The poor sod.

I am afraid I took the bait. Should not have wasted my breath

Ah Niallo, you were doing so well. I for one am shocked. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Enjoy the liberties.

    Give it time.

It’s always just about to happen, never actually does though.

Not at all, it's only been a few months for godsake.

They've already said it will be thirteen to sixteen months at a minimum.

In practice it could be years.
That being said I'm lucky as I'm married already and have two kids so I'm not sitting home alone each night.

IOW you are aren't isolated. Prolonged isolation isn't survivable, so a reasonable person wouldn't insist on enforcing mandatory isolation on others.

I worry about the people who aren't savvy enough to dodge and discount the false, inverted morality of restrictions supporters.

Someone mentioned upthread there's been a huge increase in people drinking themselves to death. Expect many more deaths of despair as this exercise in willful insanity drags on.

Full of empathy thanks- but I’m not an idiot virtue signaller looking for pity or indeed anything else off anyone else.
None of this makes any sense as it serves zero purpose and will do nothing to “stop Covid” or whatever the virtue signallers think they’re doing this week- well still be here next year or 24 months time with this idiotic approach- what do people like you actually think is going to happen? A vaccine is it? LOL

Not at all, it's only been a few months for godsake. It's difficult and I really do miss the socialising aspect of the pub as an eg. but I've little interest in attending them with restrictions in place, takes the fun out of it for me.

Not like I'm being asked to dive into the trenches or take a bullet for someone.

That being said I'm lucky as I'm married already and have two kids so I'm not sitting home alone each night. Can't imagine how tough it is for those with health conditions who have no choice and sometimes no support system in place.

Ah that explains it so. It doesn’t majorly effect you so you’re not bothered- glad you cleared that up

The problem is not the schools. In august quite a number of younger people went abroad on holidays and no doubt the virus was imported into the country and it’s been circulating and growing since then.

With the odd case imported here and there and with people extending their social circle, the case rate has gone up.

Also not mentioned much re the meat plants but the employees in the plants are largely foreign nationals. Many of whom are Brazilian and it is likely to be imported by workers. I know for instance of a Brazilian family whose relatives came here via Lisbon recently and they were self isolating on arrival. But we have no idea if others are being as careful.

Not bothered would be wandering around with a me-fein attitude and saying you don't care about anyone else.

Aren't you lucky to be in a position to hold such an attitude.

The plan has been torn up, county's heading to level 1 are now in level 3 and being threatened with level 4/5 now, there is no plan, locking down everyone is not a plan.
A positive PCR test does not mean you currently have Covid, The CCO even admitted that.

We need to stop testing people with no symptoms there not True positives. They could have had it months ago.

You started a thread on this, where many people with experience in these techniques corrected your assumptions.

That you're still propagating this crap is discraceful.
“Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”

No. Enforcing mandatory isolation on people for sixteen months to years, and claiming that you're filled with empathy and doing good, is

Who is enforcing anything? All I see are advisories and case numbers growing.

Not talking about welding people into apartments ala Wuhan now or anything, just to limit your contacts.

The fact you rail against it is actually baffling, the longer you have people refusing to follow the guidelines the longer you will have restrictions in place.

I’m not scared either. In fact I barely care less. No matter how many constructed “scare” stories I hear they’re like water off a ducks back to me. Heard it all before on loop since March.
As said dozens of times here- you want to self isolate- off you go. That’s afree choice- absolutely no one is stopping you. Are they?
Now please don’t expect me to indulge in the same hysteria just because you chose to do so. I’m not interested

    Hardly hysteria , lol.
Do what you like , nobody here gonna stop you , but don't expect anybody who is complying to take you seriously or be interested in you either .

Who has had mandatory isolation enforced upon them for 16 months to years?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,080 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Cork City South Central is not, no. It's Ballinlough/Turners Cross.

Some of the areas student live with be in South Central. Dividing line is Bandon road afaik.

Actually looking at the map, there's no north central in the covid data hub, and UCC is included under South Central in it

Hardly hysteria, its everywhere. Every main headline on rte is about covid, every TV or radio station all they do is talk about covid. Other countries are not like us, they are not obsessed with it like us.

    No outrage here .

I don't think that is true. Any time people can meet up with friends and family in their gardens or parks or by the sea or anywhere outside. For a long time people could go to cafés or even pubs, restaurants, I think cinemas were open, there were even some concerts or at least I heard about one in a theatre. For a long time now people can visit other people's homes, maybe it is becoming more restrictive now, but it was reasonably open for a good few months. There will be times when the restrictions are tighter and times when more open. I don't think there has been enforcement of solitary. Even with people who are older or vulnerable I have had picnics this year where we all brought our own stuff but could be with each other.
