Is Cork South Central around UCC ?

Not sure, but it would be either South Central or South West. However, South Central would contain the cafe/restaurant linked to 57 cases last week as far as I’m aware.

Schools brigade are those who contend that the increase in contacts as a result of children returning to school has resulted in the current case load, even though if this were both the proportion of cases in those age groups and the overall growth rate would show this, unless there is some offsetting factor I am missing.

You point though is very valid. My contention is that both healthcare and education are the two most important sectors to protect in this environment

Yes, I think it's not one area per se but an aggregate of factors at this stage .

That was the remit given to NPHET and the core priorities based around going to Level 5.

    I guess something has changed.

Be nice if we were told.

Maybe Someone (Leo) might leak it.

Yeah and what will push us directly into Level 5 is the people who attend these house parties and family gatherings.

I think people should just chill for three weeks, do the essential stuff like shopping, going to work etc. but nothing else.

Not really much to ask of people to just stay home and sit on their arses for a little bit.

And what about the 3 weeks after that, and the next 3. We are nearly there lads, let's give it another 4 weeks. All in together lads.

Cavan general hospital had been hit with its second major outbreak among staff and patients. Seems to follow from outbreaks in the wider community. Between there monaghan and donegal there must be a big overflow from the north

Did the Cork LEAs for the Cork thread. Very much centered in the city, still.

Cork Top 10 Highest Incidence LEAs
    1. Cork City South Central 240.5
    2. Cork City South West 191.3
    3. Cork City North East 173.1
    4. Fermoy 131.8
    5. Cork City North West 126.9
    6. Cobh 120.2
    7. Midleton 110
    8. Carrigaline 105.3
    9. Cork City South East 93.5
    10. Macroom 67.9

Bear in mind some of that will be driven by location of clusters of care homes and so on and the LEA populations aren’t uniform.

An aggregate basket of Cork City & suburbs vs a comparison with Dublin or other similar samples is more useful if you do it per capita.

County Cork including the city is somewhat pointless as it’s like taking a landmass nearly half the size of Northern Ireland, including one city.

Before this happened I never realised just how little I socialised

Makes it easier i guess, but also makes it hard to understand why people can't stay home

Sure try it, see how it goes. If you absolutely have to visit your family (which is totally understandable) do it outside and socially distance from each other.

The reason why it keeps getting pushed back to another three weeks, and then four, and then two months - is because people won't do it in the first place.

I’m not scared either. In fact I barely care less. No matter how many constructed “scare” stories I hear they’re like water off a ducks back to me. Heard it all before on loop since March.
As said dozens of times here- you want to self isolate- off you go. That’s afree choice- absolutely no one is stopping you. Are they?

I'm very social, between football and meeting up with my mates at the weekend in normal times so it's really tough going.

But it's sadly the only way to keep the numbers down.

    91 cases in Dublin.
    76 in Cork.
    53 in Donegal.
42 in Meath and the remaining 244 cases are located across 21 counties.

Why are Donegal numbers still so high. Stories going around about drinking parties crossing the border but that could be b....s...???!

Not even one pub open in the largest population area Letterkenny.

Cork City South Central is not, no. It's Ballinlough/Turners Cross.

It must be tough being so devoid of empathy. Without it this all must genuinely seem nuts to you.

Rather than getting angry with posts like the above, I think we need to show some compassion and understand that he simply doesn't have the capacity to grasp what's going on. The poor sod.

    My life? :pac:

Not at all, it's only been a few months for godsake. It's difficult and I really do miss the socialising aspect of the pub as an eg. but I've little interest in attending them with restrictions in place, takes the fun out of it for me.

Not like I'm being asked to dive into the trenches or take a bullet for someone.

That being said I'm lucky as I'm married already and have two kids so I'm not sitting home alone each night. Can't imagine how tough it is for those with health conditions who have no choice and sometimes no support system in place.

And where is there's. What happens if they pass it on to someone unknowingly and get very ill. Do you know how many this can have a bad effect on from the elderly to cancer patients, people with lung problems, heart problems, low immune systems, obesity and others. Have they to lock them inside just so ye can go and not care. You will probably say something about mental health but what about there mental health. Is it so dam difficult to go follow the rules wash/sanatize your hand, sneeze and cough into your elbow, observe social distance and wear a mask. The elderly who had to go through WW 2, TB, Polio Cold War and comtless recessions would be face palming if they heard ye. Bet you don't say it to people faces.

You will be young again next year and the year when this has ended you can let loose then
