Nphet doing a great job here of explaining what changed between Thursday and Sunday.

Wish the government would come along and clearly explain why nphet were ignored

400k people unemployed is a pretty big reason would you not think so instead the government decided to enforce the harshest lockdown in Europe instead.

The stats guy is great, he has all the numbers that anyone could want, be it a professor, a mathematician or a data analyst. However the average human brain cannot cope with so much data in a presentation, they will forget what he has said almost as quick as it took him to say it. He should have 4 or 5 data points, high level, that the average Joe or Jane can process. What he is presenting is just noise. There is no disrespect meant, everything they are doing is required and could be available in a dashboard somewhere, but for the general public, and i include journalist attending the press conference, this will all go above their heads as the human brain cannot cope with this amount of data, the brain switches off.

The message is also getting lost on people, if they say the same thing over and over again .... next x weeks are crucial, we are concerned, etc. They need a new approach to delivering the message and I don't mean social media to the youth

    Leo talked waffle.

We have the most restrictions in Europe.

It's as far as we can go given we are borrowing 24-30billion per year.

If level 5 is introduced the country will explode. There's no going back to that level of restriction and unemployment.

I hope it never has to be used but if it's necessary as a last resort to prevent healthcare service being overwhelmed what's the alternative?

Yes restrictions are very tough especially level 5 but it's hardly like it's done for the hell of it.

Anyone know the median age of the people that died, were they in care homes. Were they under 18.

Why would we need level 5 when no other Euro countries have this level of lockdown? It seems pointless, numbers will just rise when we open up a bit anyway.

I've a feeling Dr Tony felt compelled to return to work under circumstances he perceived to be happening.

I thought he resiled because his beloved wife is terminally ill. Just saying. And hope she is OK for now too.

    What country has harsher restrictions

It is possible that Leo's antics on Claire Byrne in response to a Dr Tony's recommendation of Level 5 was to test public response, and get government partly off the hook for subsequent increases in level. I wouldn't put it past him to use this tactic.

Level 4 is like someone propping up the bar in Coppers sulking because no-one has any interest in them, everyone seems to be all in on either Level 5 or Level 3

Dublin's problem is population size and density. It can sustain case numbers while locked away from other counties.

Take Laois/Offaly, the numbers burn out quickly when you have a corden around 140,000 population. Areas not hubs of business etc.

The alternative has been spoken about for over six months now; encourage the vulnerable to restrict themselves.

If they introduce level 5 people will take to the streets and I don't mean the usual nutjobs.

What expert committee is providing these facts to government?
