Yeah, the statement I read said 'on'. The be in your post is definitive.

    I still don't think it'll happen though.

    I see...

    Yeah, it won't happen.

I read somewhere that there is a contingency plan where the SuperBowl is played on February 28th if needed. That gives them a few additional weeks to play with if they have to go that route.

It would have made sense to build in the additional bye weeks from the outset. Forfeits will mean lost TV money in a year where revenue is already decimated so I don’t see that happening. They have set the precedent now by moving the game for the Titans in any case.
We're only at week 4 at the schedule is being thrown into early disarray by Covid which is being pathetically controlled in the US ahead of Winter with 65+ squads and large coaching personnel, February 28th could become an optimistic date for the Superbowl

I agree, it’s coming off the rails fast. They have to get a handle on it, whether that means teams and staff semi quarantining in hotels from here until the end of the season or whatever. I don’t see how they’ll finish a credible season unless they really clamp down. I’d prefer they shut the season down than go down the road of forfeits.

If any of the Chiefs, Pats, Steelers or Titans or their opponents have an issue again between now and seasons end the NFL will have no choice but to extend the season as there will be no more bye weeks to juggle around. I’m assuming that Chiefs v Pats will be postponed as a precaution.

Yeah the NFL are shoehorning themselves into a February 7th 2021 Superbowl date which doesn't look like happening unless there is seriously regimented team 'bubbles' in place or if games are forfeited (which isn't going to happen either!), they would want to get real ASAP and stop pretending that the bye weeks are a contingency and plan for a full season to be completed safely before the play-offs commence. But this is the Roger Goodell led NFL afterall

Hard to fathom why the NFL didn't build in extra weeks for themselves. Could've done something where every 4 weeks, the league had a week off. Forego the usual bye weeks, that way there's buffers in place to handle rescheduled games.

Could have started the regular season a month earlier with the lack of preseason. Built in some buffer weeks then.

They've a load of contingecy plans built in. Everything from pushing playoffs back to cancelling an entire inter-division series.

Why is Earl Thomas still without a team? He can't be that much of a prick, that most teams don't want him around their locker rooms??

Is it just the off the field issues??

Good news that the Titans had no new cases of covid within the last 24 hours and no further positive cases for the patriots so their game is on tonight.

Have to say I think it's very unfair that the Patriots have to play without their starting QB.
Titans got the week off over it, seems a bit unfair that the Patriots have to play.

Well the patriots had one confirmed case and yes it’s not fair but the Titans ants patriots situation aren’t the same thing as the Titans had multiple players and staff positive.

A practice squad player yes. But both the patriots and chiefs have had no further positives since the middle of last week so what reason could the league use to say it’s a risk to play the game tonight.

Yeah, a game wouldn't be stopped if a QB had the flu or any other sickness that stopped him from playing so I don't see why this would be different here, presuming it hadn't spread throughout the team.

The Falcon's already played on when one player went on the COVID list.

When was the Titans game called off?

I think the NFL are being a bit naive, probably deliberately so. The timeline of the Titans covid outbreak could very well happen in New England. Taking negative tests at face value that no one else in New England has covid is a bit premature.

    Day 1: First case
    Day 2
    Day 3: Second case
    Day 4
    Day 5
    Day 6: 8 more cases
    Day 7: 1 more case
    Day 8: 2 more cases
    Day 9: 2 more cases
    Day 10: 3 more cases
    Day 11: 2 more cases

Early last week when it became clear that there was an issue with the Titans and covid. The vikings closed their facility but thankfully no cases.

Think he was on thin ice after the hopkins trade, a few losses were always gonna kill him

Well they are 0-4 and he’s been a disaster as GM which has left them in a mess with lack of draft picks. He’s had long enough to get it right with some very good players.

0-4 and Miami own his first and second round draft picks. Not surprised.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,246 ✭✭✭The_Honeybadger

They should have gotten rid of him before they let him burn the place to the ground. What a mess he has left after him.

Texans need an offensive minded head coach I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,613 ✭✭✭Shedite27

As Peter King pointed out, the way they're fixtures are ending up, they could end up a 4-12 team this year, with about the 5th/6th draft pick. But they traded away their first and 2nd round pick this year (presumably assuming they'd get a playoff draft pick)

From the Texans perspective its about 4 years too late. The guy is a moron and wasted a talented roster.
