Texans need an offensive minded head coach I think.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,366 ✭✭✭Shedite27

As Peter King pointed out, the way they're fixtures are ending up, they could end up a 4-12 team this year, with about the 5th/6th draft pick. But they traded away their first and 2nd round pick this year (presumably assuming they'd get a playoff draft pick)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,434 ✭✭✭Jolly Red Giant

Bill O Brien fired, wowzer. Didn't think they'd do it.

From the Texans perspective its about 4 years too late. The guy is a moron and wasted a talented roster.

David Johnson you haven't been the same since 2016, so naturally Bob traded Hopkins who everyone knows is a stud, so let's have a look, Watson has no real reciever, no o line to protect him, a busted rb who only looks productive cos Bob was force feeding him.

    About ****ing time texans.

I'm with you on O'Brien and the Hopkins trade was insane.
However they have Fuller who is a fine receiver and Cooks is a good one too.
And David Johnson looks back to himself but he hasn't been used right.
The biggest issue there, even bigger than the draft pick problem, is the money they gave Watson. He isn't worth it and should never have got it. He never proved himself worth anything close to that money.

There's gonna be a flood now at NE and KC I would wager.

Raiders player has tested positive as well apparently and so has another Titans player which means they can't go back to the facility.

Next week could be a bit choppy.

Wouldn't surprise me, remember both had cases in advance of the game. It shouldn't have went ahead imo.

It most definitely should not have went ahead. Remember, you can be asymptomatic and still spread the virus while testing negative soon after you catch it.

So putting a bunch of players and staff on an airplane together for a 5 hour flight was a terrible idea.

The NFL are not concerned about the players wellbeing, they were concerned with having the game go ahead before more negative tests showed up. It was very well publicised how much of a headache a cancelled NE/KC game would be, as opposed to a cancelled TEN/PIT game where the bye weeks worked out very generously to facilitate a reschedule. That wasn't the case for NE/KC - the only scenario people who looked at it in great detail were able to put forward was a a Week 18 added to the end of the season.

I posted it earlier, but a reminder on what the Titans pattern of infection was:

    Day 1: First case
    Day 2
    Day 3: Second case
    Day 4
    Day 5
    Day 6: 8 more cases
    Day 7: 1 more case
    Day 8: 2 more cases
    Day 9: 2 more cases
    Day 10: 3 more cases
    Day 11: 2 more cases

The NE cases will likely balloon now.

    Top 3 Stories on ESPN:

It shouldn't have went ahead alright and not cos Cam was out. :P

    ---

Honestly could not see the logic of postponing the game for such a short period. We all know at this stage how the virus works.

We can knock our trip to Foxboro on the head now.

NE and DEN to have bye weeks this week is the sensible way forward at the very least anyway.

So now we're looking at the Bills now to get tested. Or should I say, we should be looking at the Bills to get tested.

The NFL took the same approach to the Patriots & Chiefs as the did with the Falcons earlier in the year. No one kicked up a fuss nor were there additional cases. You can't have different rules for depending on which team or player is impacted.

I originally didn't believe the season would go ahead due to the mess it causes when players eventually tested positive.

If the NFL are going to cancel all team activities and postpone games for 14 days after every positive case then they might as well cancel the season at this point. You wouldn't be playing the Super Bowl until late next summer.

It is unsurprising but insanity that States are approving this number of people attend events. It was so stupid for the NFL not have blanket rules for all teams regarding attendance.

Massive case of Florida off that though tbf.

Very much so. I don't think Dolphins will do it but the NFL have put teams in a tough position if local politicians and fans start putting pressure on them because they have the 'green light'

Looks like the cases for the Titans have been made worse by the fact players met up separately to train together last week, to get around their facility being closed. Such stupidity

    That's mind-numbingly stupid.

I feel less sympathetic to them potentially having to forfeit this weekend's game if it comes to it.

Apparently 15 players including Tannehill. They should be punished heavily, right up to forfeiting this weekend if they still cant play.

Their players are still defending/making excuses so clearly don't understand the dangers they're putting themselves and the league in

    That's so moronic.

Livelihoods? They're getting paid if they opt out and if they don't play, they're literally the most cosseted group of employees in the US.

Hope they get their asses handed to them.

    ---

Is forfeiture an available sanction or is it just boards talk?

They didn't even sell out the first game of their 13,000 capacity setup (week 2). Only sold 11,000 tickets.

Yeah was thinking they will be hard pressed to find 65,000 people all willing to pack themselves in to a stadium this weekend considering what is going on.

Re Titans absolutely moronic if they had unauthorised meet-ups last week, there is a real chance they will be forced in to a forfeit v the Bills this weekend by all accounts. As a Steelers fan that would be rather annoying given they rearranged that game, messing up our schedule and forcing the Steelers to take a week 4 bye when they are nearly fully healthy. Not the end of the world but a bit unbalanced to give one forfeit and not the other if it comes to that.

Nothing NFL players do surprises me in terms of stupidity.

Anyway, 2 more positives for the Titans today. Not looking good for that game going ahead.

One of the contingency plans surely creates extra weeks on the schedule a long time between first Sunday in February and 2nd in September

I mean who needs a pro bowl ? It’s the most pointless game every year. Use that week for the conference championships and only a week between super bowl and conference championships. Also, if they want to keep the playoffs as they were timeline wise and seeing as they cancelled the pre season why didn’t they start the season earlier and and build in time in anticipation of what is happening now.

Julian Edelman or Julio Jones may get the attention for passing attempts but the most accurate passer in NFL history is Ravens punter Sam Koch

    7/7

Also the best punter in the NFL
