The arguments on the different platforms are getting really vicious. I believe this action tonight has divided the country in a very serious way.

I'm generally a centre left voter but I really don't know where to go here.
No party is being sensible and I feel unable to associate with right wing loopers at protests but yet I want to protest.
This is seriously gonna mess up the status quo of politics.

If John Waters is starting to make sense something is gravely wrong.

The only people up at 8am on a Monday morning are lunatics!

That's a lie, you're here at 8am desperately trying to get your points in because you don't think anyone else is awake to discredit your lunacy...... (you're wrong)

I’m drinking beer and watching NFL, I certainly won’t be posting at 8am tomorrow morning.

You aren’t wrong if we don’t change our restrictions levels to level 5 or above very soon it will be too late.

    Too late for what?

Can you get a PhD in arts? On a side note I would have thought anyone intelligent enough to get a PhD would know drinking alcohol while driving is a pretty f**king stupid idea then again I don't have a PhD.

Level 5 for the whole country? Really? Hopefully Tony is trolling us on his return. Odds on the government implementing that? I can’t see it happening, even if they say it’s only for 4 weeks.

It sounds like trolling especially for the 11 counties with low case numbers the last two weeks and Connacht hospitals for example with just 2 people with Covid.

Odds would be short based on the fact on how cautious Michael Martin and Stephen Donnelly are, they took on board the recommendations that Kildare, Laois and Offaly go into lockdown, they jumped in heads first by putting outdoor sports behind closed doors only to allow some supporters attend games weeks later. Dublin, Donegal in level 3 is mainly from the strong advice from NPHET.

I agree. That BLM protest here was reckless beyond extreme.

I know that post was likely tongue in cheek but I wonder will they be seen as a turning point.

Most were following restrictions etc and making sacrifices and say thousands marching on the streets with no issue or repercussions (and being almost praised by politicians).

I know it took away from my own "trust the science" when it seemed like the rules could be applied differently depending on the cause. And its got more on inconsistent since.

Leaking the letter from NPHET is the usual kite-flying sh;te from this cowardly Government.

See how it plays across social media before making any decision.

From when like? Tomorrow? I have a hotel booking and not sure what to do :/ also what about their stay and spend scheme, idiots, will have to go to Spain again :)
Also from level 2 to 5 when cases are dropping hahahah you couldn’t make that up

I have to acknowledge the posters who are calling bollox on Level 5 actually being implemented by the Government. I think you’re right. I think it’s all a ruse to make us think we dodged a bullet, Micháel and co are in control, etc etc.

We’ll know soon enough either way but I’d put a fiver on us not going to Level 5. It’s all a kite-flying PR stunt, imo.

Incidentally, I do notice that Level 5 nowadays is deemed different to the first time around. Schools remain open, over-70s will not be recommended to cocoon (stupid word), among other things.

A countrywide Level 5 isn't going to happen in the short term.

    So, here's McConkey again

Destroying businesses and people's livelihoods is a "no brainier". Sure it's only 3 months.

Great but level 4 is just as bad, no visitors and pretty much everything closed apart from”outdoors” but the weather isn’t really in favour of outdoors :(

Personally, I don't think it will go to Level 4 either.

I hope you're right Pen but I've a feeling we are going to L4 in Dublin at a minimum, even though they haven't let the current restrictions run the course and see if the situation stabilises.

They are weaponizing fear. It is not far off psychological abuse - but on a much larger scale.

How can any retail or hospitality business owner plan around this nonsense.

Do they purchase perishable stock knowing they can be shut down on a whim, do they roster staff?

It is criminal what the Government are allowing to happen. They have all but ceded power to a bunch of single-issue bureaucrats, which are now wagging the dog.

I predict they will move the country to Level 4 and pat themselves on the back for taking a 'balanced' approach.

Good. I've been missing those 350 a week to my bank account.

Maybe I'm missing something but level 4 and level 5 look pretty much the same to me?
