Because saving lives and keeping people healthy is the priority.

If they were successful in overturning this in court... it will lead to more deaths.

They KNOW this but value making money ahead of saving lives.
    Their employee's livelihoods don't matter?

The RTE show is about a survey they did with less than 1600 people from all of Ireland.

1300 in south and less than 300 in the north.

And economic well-being has no knock on effect on health..?

So the economy remains significantly hamstrung indefinitely, because that's the reality of the situation.

We are being prepped for 6 to 9 months of restrictions etc.

Given that we are not pursuing a zero Covid policy ( because it's near impossible) what exactly is going to change in 6 to 9 months time? Because it won't be heard immunity whether naturally or by way of vaccine.

Forget the court case or the threat of one.

I think more and more people ( who are not conspiracy theorists) are just looking for more detailed information behind the headlines.

The couple that infected 30 people over a weekend. I'm inclined to think this is OTT but at the same time I should have no reason to not believe the sources.

What I would like to know is if this couple were asymptomatic, if they were it's scary.

OR if they were symmomatic but dismissed their symptoms as a common cold and went out coughing and sneezing.

Edit: if the latter than its down to individual stupidity and there is no legislating for that nor can the general populace be punished as a result

    Close the pubs!

Pubs are barely open a week, they aren't causing this jump in cases.

I'm not sure what impact one pub has on the nation's health, but okay.

Peoples health (physical and mental) is linked with their ability to make a livelihood for themselves

I can't believe some fail to make the connection between livelihood and healthiness

I think trying to ensure that they and their employee's have enough money to survive is pretty caring

It's Ireland, we've a generous welfare system, so don't worry they'll be alright.

Sure just throw everyone on €300 a week and then eventually €203, they'll survive it'll be grand......

Someone has to pay for the welfare and everything else, bloody hell some dont understand it at all. The never ending money tree

Yes... and this generous system is free to operate thankfully so it won't impact on spending in others areas such as health, education, environment...

Bookies are empty in Dublin, it's almost like pubs aren't open and 10s of thousands are out of work......

Wow you make the dole sound like fun

I don't live in ireland and at the start of the year I didn't see a paycheck for 6 months. I still had rent and bills to pay and food to provide for my family.

So yes if I was able to avail of the dole during that I'd have been ecstatic tbh.

And where does this money for the welfare system come from? Does it magically fall out of the sky?

So people pay an extra euro out of their paychecks or whatever. Hardly a massive price to pay in order to save lives.
