I thought that peno was harsh against Sissoko but as a Liverpool fan, said nothing at the time. I see why this is happening now, still a terrible rule.

I honestly cannot believe that this nonsense is still prevelant in believing that winning the passing equates to a god given right to win football matches. That stuff was undone a few years ago, seems to be creeping back in.

Looking forward to see how Pep takes on his hero Bielsa next weekend.
Given how Leeds got at Liverpool on the opening day you wouldn't rule out more dropped points for city.

(Or Leeds will be cut to ribbons)

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Haha that's hilarious, "Its not the way I like to play"

The team that did nothing scored 5

"I am young and try to learn every game, but games like this - where the opposition do nothing"

    Well bar score 5 goals.

I'm wondering will it be one of the games where Pep over thinks everything.

"For me, they were lucky," said Rodri.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, the 24-year-old Spaniard added: "Football has not been fair to us. Maybe it is our fault, maybe it is their strength - but it is very difficult to explain.

"We did a lot of good things to win the game. A team like Leicester comes here and plays with 11 guys behind the ball.

"I am young and try to learn every game, but games like this - where the opposition do nothing - you are a bit confused. It's not the way I like to play."

Sour grapes. You get whipped 5-2 and he can't even see it :o

It's possible. Jack Harrison can't play also as he's on loan from city so it'll mean the lineup will be a bit more unpredictable.

Maybe he should learn to pass the ball forward instead of sideways and backwards all the time .
Or learn to track the runners from midfield .

    :pac:

At least you could say you can see where he's coming from if it finished we'll say 0-1 to Leicester & the goal came from a peno.

    They scored 5 goals ffs.

Even then he'd still be wrong as per the point you've made.

    That's embarrassing.

City the flat tracks bullies that they are want to play against 'teams whose managers send a team out to attack and end up losing 3-0 or similar are labelled as ''brave'' and a ''breath of fresh air' - to quote the very first post from the 'Things that Grind your Gears thread' from as many as 8 years ago, 8!

They don't have much of a plan B otherwise, do they?

Things don't work that way now Rodri my friend, get over it.

What sort of post is that? Why the big list of results?

Fulham haven't made it past the 8th minute without conceding in any of their 3 games so far.

Scott Parker will get it easy from the English pundits this season I would imagine no matter how bad Fulham get.

The likes of Hector, Ream and Odoi would get you relegated even if you had De Bruyne, Mane and Kane in your team.

Fulham were always heading straight back down, indeed with Norwich's capitulation last season before a ball had been kicked it's time to have a look at the promotion system. I'd be in favour of cutting it at two and dropping the play off even though I'm fully aware why the current set up exists (money money money).

Add in Peps defensive coaching and its a penalty conceded every 90 seconds.

Frank does so I'm sure Scott will.

Parker should go for the Chelsea job should things go belly up at Fulham, he actually got a Championship team promoted so he'd already be presenting Roman with a better CV than Lampard did.

Has played for Chelsea also so he qualifies on the basis that Frank did.

Except for the above offences, it is not an offence if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm:

directly from the player’s own head or body (including the foot)
directly from the head or body (including the foot) of another player who is close

are refs ignoring this bit or do they have a different definition of close? The Dier and Lindelof penalties had the players in close proximity surely?

    BBC explanation

    https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/54321867
    What is the new law?
It's not technically "new" as it has been in force across Europe last season, but the Premier League is now taking a more strict approach. So that means a player will be penalised for handball if:

    - The hand/arm is clearly away from the body and outside the "body line".
    - The player clearly leans into the path of the ball.
    - The ball travels some distance.
    - The ball touches a hand/arm that is clearly raised above the shoulder.
    - The player falls and the hand/arm is extended laterally or vertically away from the body.
    - A deflection clearly makes no difference to the ball touching a hand/arm that is clearly extended away from the body and/or above the shoulder.
    - Immediately after touching the ball with the arm, even accidentally, the player scores a goal or creates a goal-scoring opportunity.

How has the handball rule changed?
Football's rulemakers, the International Football Association Board (Ifab), tightened up the handball rule in time for this season, defining the boundary between the shoulder and the arm as the bottom of the armpit.

Anything below that and it's a handball - intentional or not, it doesn't matter.

Ifab also emphasised a handball offence takes place when a player makes their body 'unnaturally bigger' and/or puts their arms above shoulder height.

It was also clarified that an "accidental" handball by an attacking player is only penalised if it occurs "immediately" before a goal or clear goal-scoring opportunity

Premier League clubs will vote on Tuesday to decide how the season would be ended if it cannot be completed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Clubs agreed in principle on the main points of action if it is cut short at their last meeting in August.

The wording of the new rule has been developed over the past few weeks.

Clubs will vote at a shareholders meeting on Tuesday and, if the motion is passed, it will be written into the Premier League rules.

Another vote would then take place at a future date on how many matches will need to have been played for the rules to be applied.

BBC Sport understands the range will be around two thirds to three quarters of matches played. If the season has not reached that agreed point then it would be voided.

so the bbc are ignoring the "closeness" defence as well?
was this removed or no longer a thing?

Odoi must be the worst defender in the league. Absolutely hopeless.

Hector played with Dundalk a few years back, under Ian Foster, must be 10 years or so ago on loan for half a season and if anyone told anyone in Oriel he would be a Premier League Player, you woulda sent them to the Mad House
