Of course I was but I'm not the poster making comments such as 'you must be new here' when I've apparently only signed up a few weeks ago.

Not even sure why you're commenting on it, oh that's right, they have the same or similar view as you.

Thanks I appreciate it. Think I'll quit the page for a while. Sick of being ganged up on and having the mods ignore it

That’s not going to happen. Everyone has full awareness at this stage, including of the risks of longer term conditions. So the behaviours and level of adherence on display now, in all demographics, are those that are here to stay (absent enforcement / intervention).

So this second wave, are they doing anything to help those who might run into financial difficulty? Will they bring in a ban on evictions or a ban on rent increases?

Not this time around unfortunately. It'll mean the chancers will be out on their hole but a lot of others caught in the crossfire too.

Any young person looking at that nonsense is more likely to think, worst case scenario I'm off social media for half an hour and then loads of attention afterwards.

Straight off to the next party going.

What is to say they are not new and haven't been in here before. I haven't seen Kanetoad post in here before. Plenty of people have made similar comments in here "you must be new here" when someone new defends themselves from the usual people who seem to have a go at people because they believe this virus should not be taken lightly.

I also note the usual lot often enough resort to "similar view" or "newly registered user" excuses as well. It wears thin when the same thing keeps popping up.
For your interest I don't agree with everything they say but I am not going to have a go at them over their view. Over cautious is better then out and out dismissal and making claims that its not as dangerous as government or health officials claim it to be.

Half an hour off social media might be a big deterrent for some.

But I don't think young people are that stupid, The virus is spreading in all age groups and (many) areas, it's not just because some young people are having house parties.

Daily operations report is out. 108 in hospital, down 2. 17 in ICU, down 1.

Why not provide an attractive package for 1,000 extra ICU nurses. That would be money well spent and a fraction of what has been spent on paying people to stay home for months.

Indeed, but it would have to include all medics. And they should pay more to those who are not unionised too. Can you see the fallout there? Not for the greater good, but for the Unions good.

I would love to see that happening TBH. Doesn't seem to bother medics in the Private Hospital Sector.

The only way to go now I think. We will pay you handsomely but you have to be flexible.

Nope it won't happen, but no harm thinking about it either.

I was listening to Donnelly on the radio and he was asked about it. Fudged the answer about the staff who came home and didn’t get jobs, blamed recruitment processes and red tape, and claimed the the HsE winter plan included the biggest recruitment drive ever etc.... eh why is that in the new plan, shouldn’t this have all been done months ago??

How much is the fault of the union's?

Im not Donnellys biggest fan, but the union's are the most anti progressive road block to any changes, certaintly regarding hiring etc.

I'm not defending the government but all public sector workers are getting pay restoration increases. Politicians pay linked to a civil service pay grade. Civil service pay goes up TD's pay goes up. Civil service pay reduced by way of legislation such as FEMPI TD's pay reduced.
Lots of things to give about concerning government and politics in general this however is not one of them.
