Ah I get ya. It was the few hours that made the difference. I probably ordered at the same time but I wasn’t prepared to wait until November for the braided one or leather one so I just got it with the sport band and that had 18th for a delivery date at the time.

Yeah, I've ordered a braided loop separately. It's not showing delivery until November 20th. So it'll be an early Christmas present from me to me, that's if there is a Christmas this year.

Tried 3 different configurations and none available for pickup in the Belfast store.

Anyone know where I can buy either a Silver Titanium or Graphite SS?

Probably have to be the UK as they don’t do those models here.

Edit: had a look and Argos UK, Curry’s and John Lewis etc seem to only have the aluminium ones. Might have to just get one off Apple Uk online and parcel motel.

Parcel Motel was mentioned to me before and I had forgotten about that option. Thank you for reminding me!

I've never used Parcel Motel before. When I see this on the Apple website

Share shipping updates with someone else:

    Enter an email address

Do I have to add an email address for Parcel Motel?

    Thanks.

If you have an Apple ID currently you just set up new address with your Parcel Motel ID and the Northern Ireland shipping address and they’ll reroute it to your local Parcel motel when it arrives up there for about €4. It’s worth paying another €4 for additional insurance on the parcel due to its value which increases the insurance to about €1000 if it was to get lost in their care you’re covered.

If you need more details drop me a pm.

Thanks for this. While I have an Apple ID in Ireland I bought the watch online in UK store for delivery to the parcel motel address. You mean that Parcel Motel will charge the €4 to transfer it to the pick up point here? And they will ask me for another €4 for insurance?

Ye it’s around €4 for the standard charge for the parcel motel service (including transfer from up north to your local motel) but if you’re buying the titanium version for about £700 or more you can log into your parcel motel account and choose to pay for extended liability. It’s €3.50 extra for up to €500 and €7 extra for items up to €1000. Basically it will cost ya about €11 to make sure your watch is insured for the time Nightline/Parcel motel have it. Well worth it for expensive items for peace of mind.

I'd take a look at parcel wizard before routing something so expensive. Parcel motel have high lost package rates and customer service on a par with Eir. It's one thing having insurance but it's another actually getting in touch with them about it when it's lost.

Thank you. I see the extended liability link. What does cover for 14 days mean?

I haven't heard of wizard but will have a look. Mentioning Eir in same sentence is very scary. They are deplorable.

Wizard is DPD and deliver to a nominated address rather than a locker. I actually prefer the locker setup but Nightline became too unreliable for me, and almost impossible to get help from without calling them out on social media.

Personally been using Parcel Motel since 2012 and they haven’t lost anything for me. They misplaced something once but it turned up after 48 hours.

Comes down to your preference. I never used Parcel Wizard so I can’t speak about it. I use the insurance for high ticket items through Parcel Motel though just in case. 14 days means that you have €500 or €1000 liability for all packages received by them associated with your Parcel Motel ID for that period of time. More than enough for your watch to be delivered.

Thanks for that. If I pay for that now does it run out 14 days from tonight? Or do I pay a week before the watch is due to arrive?

14 days from when you activate it. Pay for it the day it’s being delivered to parcel motel and then that’s it. The insurance wouldn’t pay out if it got lost before it was in their hands anyways so it’s wasting time

Anybody else having an issue where the Fitness app no longer tracks your route when you run (or walk)? Every run since updating to watchos 7 just shows the starting point in the map and nothing else. :(

It's a known bug, apparently, as I assume the battery drain issue is. Let's hope 7.0.1 (or whatever) comes quickly...!

Yeah, you're not the only one with the GPS issue.

Have Apple removed the ability to sync their personalised playlists (e.g. New Music Mix, Chill Mix) to the Apple Watch for offline listening with watchOS 7?

I had issues with the playlists not updating in iOS 13, and now it seems like they’re completely gone from watchOS 7.

I have awful battery drain on my Series 4. Charge it all night, just been using it normally during the day (no workouts, music etc) and I'm at 44% now. Last night going to bed it was at 5% - before the update, I'd get 2 full days out of it. I suspect it's the Handwashing app, I'm turning it off now to see how the rest of the day battery life goes.

My series 4 went through a phase a couple of weeks ago where it, like yours, was draining rapidly and much quicker than ever before despite nothing having been changed. I was barely making it till lunchtime. However it then 'fixed' itself after a few days and went back to normal. This was before the WatchOS 7 upgrade though.

Turned off Handwashing and it still went down to 10% after a quiet day. So it’s not that...

Updated to watchOS 7.0.1 last night and it seems to have fixed the GPS tracking fault which meant running/walking routes weren't showing up in the Fitness app and it also seems to have improved the battery drain issue. Will see if it gets to the end of the day with 35% like it used to, but looking good so far. :)

I can help with this. Had similar issues and visits to Apple to sort it out. Nothing stopped the drain, a fully charged s4 barely made it 8 hours before turning into reserve mode.

Most fixes suggest to un-pair via the phone. Please don’t do that. Instead, do it from the watch via settings | general | reset | erase all content and settings. Once complete you’ll need to re-pair it to the phone and your battery use will be back to normal. You won’t lose activity history but will need to sync over any faces, playlists, and photos again.

The drain I experienced was something to do with processor usage being driven by a process that failed to terminate properly. The logs can be accessed via the watch app on the phone so you can go digging to verify your own issue but do try the method above and very good luck!

I’m comfortably getting 2 days, including morning, afternoon and evening workouts of roughly 30 minutes each.

watchOS 7.0.1 Has fixed my battery drain. 53% left now. Was at 15% this time last night with the same usage.

Just ordered my first apple watch (se) - what battery life am I expecting here? I have seen the reviews but hearing options from actual users helps

What do you use it for? Battery life will vary depending on how many notifications you get to it on a daily basis and things like whether you use the workout feature or not.

As it doesn’t have the always on display, you are very likely to get two days out of it if you’re an average user. That’s what I was getting with my series 4. Series 5 with always on display would get me a day and a half, 2 days at a stretch. Make sure to power it off at night to avoid battery drain.

    Thanks for your response

Initially will play a lot with it haha

But in general will use it a for work - slacks, skypes etc plus numerous apps, notifications etc. I used pebble then switched to amazfit bip and now on amazfit gts but missing some options from pebble still so decided to jump. Will see how it goes

I terms of charging at night: i like the sleep tracking (amazfit tracks deep sleep etc) : so do i just snooze the notifications at night? That would save some battery life?

You’re definitely going to get a full day out of it anyway. Especially at the start with a fresh battery. Apple really undersell the battery life on the watch.

What I would recommend is to take advantage of the time before bed (if you’re just relaxing on the couch or whatever) to top off the charge so that you will get through the night time and the next day too.

Would the 5 be worth paying about 90 quid for over the SE?

If you think you would benefit from the always on display and having the ECG, consider a refurbished one when they’re in stock again - https://www.apple.com/ie/shop/refurbished/watch

    Otherwise, no.
