Parents not informing schools of their kids getting tests or parents refusing to remove sick kids should be reported to tusla.

Nothing will be done initially but if problems continue to arise some sort of action might be taken. But it's important to log each discretion.

We rang Tusla and the Gardai at the time. As it happens the child wasn't sent to school the following day.

To be fair to the asti, if i recall correctly, almost all of their ballots in the last few years have been related to pay inequality, which is still an issue almost a decade after it was first introduced. You would expect them to stay fighting for something that is still an issue.

That may be, but why do they seemingly always have a crib?

And while I have sympathy for teachers in the current circumstances trying to deal with a difficult situation, i find my sympathy very much diluted when i read the asti demand of an absolute guarantee from covid.

Just imagine how our society would have functioned if nurses, doctors, and supermarket checkout operators had demanded a guarantee of covid free before they would do a days work?

Maybe aimed at me? I’m on sick leave the last two days. And even then I’ve been checking in with my classes on line and trying to tick away at correction for the leaving certs

I think that's a very good idea. Like you said, may not have a short term effect but long term it could work. Even if TUSLA could send the parents a one liner acknowledgeing the report was made by the school.

So, all the teachers posting and bickering on Boards are “all” off on leave or sick?

That sounds a bit like the crazy claim that “all” teachers were working as hard as possible during shutdown.

    LOL

Well three of us have said we are. Are you?

Parents are not obligated to notify the school if their child is awaiting a test. Thats not the advice being given.

There are more than 3 teachers posting regularly during the school day both here and on the teaching forum.

Are you saying that all of them are on leave or off sick?

i don't necessarily disagree with you. I think the ASTI have communicated their message badly.

No, I said some of us were on leave, which is true. I've asked you twice if you are on leave and you've refused to answer. But then if I remember correctly I think you're a secondary school teacher so like others you are probably posting during free classes or break times?

No one said it was but there are those of us who think the school should be informed by someone. By school I mean the principal.

Having said that the child shouldn't be sent to school while awaiting test results as happened in that case.

Maybe she is looking for evidence!!

No they're not, the issue came up because of a parent who sent a child to school while awaiting results of the test. If the school knew the child was awaiting test results they could have sent the child home.

In fairness, there are loads of teachers posting on Boards during the school day. Its unlikely that they would all have free classes or be on leave. Some seem to be on Boards all day!!

I have to admit I’m a bit puzzled by this as many of the same teachers are saying they “all” worked during shutdown. Some even claimed they were working 14 hour days!!

It’s bizarre that these same teachers are on Boards all day when the are now back in school.

There is a moral obligation on them to keep the child home though, even if they don't tell the school

It's bizarre how much time you give worrying about what other teachers are doing, especially when you appear to be doing the very thing that you are complaining about.

You're not puzzled, you're intent on making teachers appear work shy. Prove your claim that even one teacher is posting on boards all day when they are now back in school?

I’ll do that after we get proven evidence of the repeated claims that “all” teachers worked during lockdown.

You claim to be a teacher, you are currently on Boards. I am not a teacher, I am currently on my lunch break. Other people have answered as to why they can be on boards but you, as usual, haven't given a direct answer to a direct question.

The poster in question is nothing but consistent in their attitude. Have to hand it to them.

I repeatedly acknowledged that many didnt. Including on this thread. Anyway I apologise for dragging the thread off topic by responding to you. I've tried reasoned discussion here and on other threads. You won't engage by answering fair questions. I've answered yours. All you do is repeat your own skewed view of the world.

    I'll leave you to it.

    hysterical nonsense

Your constant, unrelenting and comically histrionic use of ‘hysterical’ is nothing short of hysterical to be fair.

With respect, just because my view is not the same as yours does not make it “skewed”.

Hey, maybe I missed it but wondering how you know he doesn't have kids? Because he's on loads of threads talking otherwise...

Hi blondoni... I see you’ve been posting a lot during school hours over the last few weeks. Are you on leave too?

Haha ... teachers saying they worked 14 hour days and that “all†of them worked as hard as they could during lockdown now spending all day posting/arguing on Boards when the schools are back!!!

    Hmmmm....

Are you a teacher posting on Boards when the schools are back?

Probably best to come down off that high horse so.

Why is there a separate definition for a 'close contact' by the HSE for those working in schools?

In society a 'close contact' is someone who has interacted with a person (who has tested positive) for 15 minutes whilst less than 2 m apart OR not wearing a mask or visor.

In schools a 'close contact' is someone who has interacted with a person (who has tested positive) for 15 minutes whilst less than 1 m apart AND not wearing a mask or visor.
It's worrying if this is still the case. Also, never mind the fact that it's airborne and no update on that anywhere.
I know I've read this before Peter but which doc does it give the teacher close contact 1m AND no mask info?

Just want to see both docs beside each other for myself.
    Thanks.

Instead of making personal comments about me do you have any comment about all the teachers posting here (including yourself) when they are meant to be working?
