Thank you for this very useful correction which has undoubtedly made a very valuable contribution to our ongoing discussion of the coronavirus pandemic.

In real corrupt countries sergeant McCabe would have been disappeared

FFS. . . Are these our standards?

We should be grateful McCabe wasn't disappeared.

Plenty of others have disappeared in this country in the past - some infants and children.

McCabe resulted in real change making the country a better place.

You stated Ireland has had as much corruption as most countries have in 1000 federations. Hyperbolic bollix. And then respond educate yourself, when the lack of education being exhibited is by yourself with your belief that corruption here has been anywhere embrace rhe levels even seen in some of our European neighbours, never mind the rest of the world.

And what happened here 50 years ago has no bearing in the independent HSPC reporting of Covid statistics, which was your original contention that we were making up the numbers because corruption

Also, look at all the money that's being used to maintain incomes in the form of the PUP and Restart Grants.

    But the homeless don't vote.

This from Ontario, to clamp down on parties:
'Anyone holding an illegal party can face a fine of C$10,000 ($7,580), and those caught attending one a fine of up to C$750, Ford said.'

    Can we follow suit please?

Anyone see the video of the Oliver bond flats last night?

You will, all I'll say is we are never getting out of these restrictions here with the amount of morons out there.

Rave on the astro pitch with about 300 youths.

Jesus where have you been living?

You've obviously never lived outside Ireland. Corruption is endemic in over 90% of the world's countries.

Other Countries have nothing to do with whether this Country is corrupt or not

You refuse to accept that Ireland is a corrupt Country when it is.

It is less corrupt than some but it is corrupt.

Not ideal at all. Guess it will take a few weeks for effects of restrictions in Dublin to be shown in figures.

Surprising, given we only had 200 positives swabs yesterday. Let’s see what the test and swab data tell us tomorrow.

To be honest, it’s a waste of time comparing one country to another on this, particularly where there’s a huge gulf between the two cultures.

Ireland, along with Australia and New Zealand rank as some of the least deferential places on the planet. You’re not going to change that culture, nor would it be a particularly desirable thing to do. However, you can work with what we have and communicate better. Look at NZ for example. Whether or not you agree with her, Jacinda Arden has done a far, far better job of communicating than any of our lot, and light years ahead of her counterparts in Australia while the the U.K. and US are on a different planet entirely.

We should be sharing experience with Canada, NZ and Australia and also countries like France, Belgium, etc that are extremely similar to us in a lot more ways than we think.

Comparisons with Japan, as much as we may get on just don’t really provide much of a communication template to use as the underlying political culture and general social attitudes are extremely different.

I also think however, we need to be damn careful not to keep drawing comparisons and ideas from the US. The similarities between Irish and American society are also only superficial in a lot of ways.

We need to be trying to appeal much more to our sense of community, family and that we should be looking out for one another and for the future prosperity and stability of this island.

We should be ignoring the conspiracy theorists that are just being radicalised online.

Debate the nuances of the restrictions etc but some of the really mad stuff really needs to be called what it is : utterly bonkers !

Saw a video on Instagram this morning, loads of tw*ts having a rave up in the Hellfire Club last night. Mind you the person who posted it, was the same person flying to Amsterdam every two weeks and then coming back and gallivanting around the city.

So far I've had to push my wedding back, missed out on loads of gigs and a few holidays, haven't seen certain family members in god knows how long.

I'd love to be able to just have a quiet pint, but I can't do that, but these d*ckheads are out raving? Utter c*nts.

There is no dressing up those numbers I’m afraid. Not good at all.
