Communions cancelled here this weekend (North County Dublin) but some of the parents decided to go ahead with the parties anyway. Kids dressed in the gear and had pics taken together in the local park. Caterers and bouncy castles in at least three separate houses, lots of friends and relatives arriving for the fun. One of the parents involved is a nurse. Should the schools be informed of the irresponsible behaviour that went on so they know the kids going in tomorrow could pose a greater risk? These are the idiots that are causing restrictions to be imposed on the rest of us.

More worried about that nurse infecting someone

Absolute scum. Yes please inform the schools as it's not fair on people who value their health and others.

The failure here is that the schools should have started the year and announced that communion and other non essential gatherings of a social/religious variety would be on hold until further notice.

The church should have been communicating their support for the postponement of communion, the leadership to enable it but their response to covid from the outbreak to now has been an absolute disgrace, disgusting. An absolutely vile organization and this is just a further indication of what they represent and how the value hokey ceremonies ahead of the actual health and wellbeing of people in the community. Absolute scumbag thing to do.

You should contact the hospital the nurse works for and let them know what their employee was up to. Maybe try contacting the HSE too

You'd have to blame the cultural catholic parents too. They have done up the house and garden and want the big occasion. The children want the 1000 Euros and a new iPhone. Now would be a great time for those parents to admit it's all a load of nonsense and have the courage to stop the cycle of hypocrisy. The whole thing is twisted when you look at the Roman organisation's history.

Maybe all the Covid posters who just want general information should switch to the 'Schools' thread for the craic just to confuse those posting here. :D:D:D

The kids probably won’t see inside a church again now until their confirmation.

Oh hang - in the OP’s example they didn’t even see inside the church this time either - the communion never even went ahead. Proof if we ever needed it that the a actual communion part of the day is of little importance compared to the party, and the photos for Facebook, and the bouncy castle, and the €1000 the kids “make” on the day.

Given the Church's history you would imagine it would be the last place parents would bring their kids.

Communion is a means of control used by the church. It guilts parents into supporting the indoctrination of their kids with its religion.

Churches should not be involved in the running of state schools.

Serious, did the communion so many are frothing about going ahead through the negligence of the public health authorities never actually happen?

    Ireland is a corrupt country.

We have had more scandals since independence than most countries could provide in a thousand generations.

You need to get open your eyes. You are a teacher and you actually believe this? Ireland is an exemplary nation - Top 20 worldwide for lack of corruption. There are over 160 countries more corrupt than Ireland.

Yeah, fantastic, it'll eventually kill off all the dumb ****s leaving our country much more pleasant.

The experience to-date is, it's not the young and healthy who fall victim to the virus.

Anti-corruption index rubbish is just that.
    Complete rubbish.

Go and learn about your own country & its history.

Learn about the world. Shocking lack of knowledge from a teacher. Wow. Worrying.

Nope, see Babyboom’s post at 1505 on the previous page. Communion was cancelled but about 4 parties still went ahead with caterers, bouncy castle, friends and family attending, etc

Ireland may be in the top 20 but it is not an exemplary nation.

I’m not interested in ranks of corruption, it’s not a competition. We are too corrupt for my liking. It’s no good if I walk outside and assault somebody but complain when I’m arrested.. “well Frank KILLED somebody, why are you arresting me ?”

Ireland may be in the top 20 but it is not an exemplary nation.

Some people in Ireland wrap themselves in the Irish flag whenever any sort of criticism of Ireland occurs.

Virtually all of the corruption that occurs flies under the radar.

We all saw how AGS behaved regarding penalty points......If that's the police force treating one of their own . . .

If you have any data to support your view that Ireland is more corrupt than other nations, please share it. Sadly, corruption turns up everywhere. Power corrupts, often and everywhere.

What part of my post is nonsense? My mother is nearly 94 and people like those I've mentioned are putting her safety at risk.

And we wonder why it's spreading, a lot of fun was had last night in Oliver Bond flats, we should close the nitrous oxide shops....

    https://www.dublinlive.ie/news/dublin-news/watch-chaotic-scenes-oliver-bond-18965752

No chance of the guards going in to the Oliver Bond flats, even though it went on until 5am. I would be very surprised if they didn’t get any calls regarding it. They probably had more important things to do like make sure no more than 15 people were dining outside the restaurants which were shut down.

A lot of Brazilians travel down from Dublin to Meath for a rave
