This feels worse that March / April.

    Have they closed?

All restaurants and pubs who can’t provide outdoor dining recommended to close .. NPHET proposal to cabinet.

Me thinks that might be diluted by the time it reaches cabinet

You would hope so. NPHET are losing credibility by the day.

    One would hope so.

In my humble opinion, the blame for this lies squarely at the feet of NPHET. They pushed the closure of regulated gatherings into crowded house settings. What the hell have they been at?

Point out one post where a poster is rejoicing at any of this.

This is a sh1t situation for everyone. There are no winners here.

It's possible I misinterpreted where you were getting your number from. Where did your 1 in 20000 here come from then, if not approximately dividing today's cases by the population?

Yes I gave the chances of catching it today and the chances of dieing from it today, I also did it on average for the year. I didn't hide anything in my post I stately clearly it was for today.

It’s bananas. Loads of outbreaks from house gatherings. Hardly any from restaurants or pubs.

I never fully understood the uproar at regulated, controlled environments (wet pubs) while basically encouraging house parties, to be honest.

Why the hell do people need to gather? Is the threat of death not enough to inspire compliance? Spoiled brats one and all

When it comes to discussion of the economic and psychiatric damage caused by the restrictions on this thread there are too many out-and-out liars to ignore.

There's huge economic and psychological damage that comes with restrictions. This isn't an earth shattering observation: anyone with a brain in their head knows this.

But, equally, the consequences of letting the virus run amok brings with it it's own potential economic and psychological consequences. Restrictions have a terrible effect on everyone's life but they aren't been done just for the craic - their whole purpose is to suppress the growth of a highly infectious and dangerous disease and to try to avoid the worst possible outcome.

Need to keep people who live in Dublin in Dublin, no point otherwise.

So now we're back to saying that the 2m and 105min guidelines that we've been adhering too aren't actually safe at all.

Not it's because 6 different households have been sitting around tables in pubs/restaurants for the last while. No social distancing.

I see the "I'm in favour of the economy tanking" crew are out in force

Who is in favour of the economy tanking Citizen?

That's a childish point of view.

People calling for the closure of pubs, restaurants, etc. are in favour of the economy tanking. That is a childish point of view. Childish in the sense that they haven't a clue how an economy works.

Hardly any traced from restaurants or pubs.

    FYP.

Do you honestly think there is no transmission in the one place people are allowed congregate indoors maskless?

Do you think NPHET are just being big meanies?

Or simply keep those who don’t live there out.

They’ll need to stop the house parties in Dublin or the restrictions won’t work and the cases will keep on dublin.

I am pretty sure that is level 4?

Dublin will be moving from level 2 to level 3.
They still haven't announced the differences

Sounds like level 4 and it's what's needed. Gps in Dublin said earlier they thought level 4 was needed.

I think NPHET are out of their depth. The background briefing this week against Government did not help them. And Paul Reid this evening crossed a line a public servant should never ever cross.

Yes looks like it possible....according to RTE news.

I was hoping to have dinner with my husband for my birthday ffs.
Already had to cancel honeymoon this year zzz

So level 2 in the country bar Dublin which is level 3 with a bit of level 4...

Your lucky I could point to about 4/5 families at least on our street who have had big parties

The closest we had was drinks with our neighbours about 4 metres apart sitting on our respective drives lol
