Here's a summary of the HSE briefing. Interesting data on schools - 96 schools arranged tests, 35 cases.

    https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2020/0917/1165839-35-positive-covid-19-cases-so-far-in-schools-hse/

Is it now 13 schools in total in ROI with confirmed cases?

If Dublin calmed down we would be doing relatively okay

To be fair it doesn't even need to come down that much. Its always going to have the highest. Just needs to get stable

If there are any positives from today's 240 figures. 129 are from Dublin which while still v bad is only 50% of the case load. I think other counties are beginning to catch up with Dublin. I think during the week on one or two day, Dublin had in excess of 60% of the case load.

    240 cases, 1 death.

    119 Dublin.

Just under 50 % of the cases for today for Dublin. Not that’s it’s not serious but Dublin and it’s high numbers are making aren’t helping.

    Honestly who knows.

Good luck to them setting up checkpoints on the main roads because travelling for work will still be allowed so you'd be looking at fairly bad tailbacks.

Plus with the amount of traffic just passing through Dublin its difficult to say the least. Might get them on smaller roads maybe and in the city but doubt you'll see anything on the main routes

Exactly. The M50 is a major part of north to south traffic that is just bypassing Dublin.

That's good news, they are wrong about everything so far so let's hope the trend continues.

50% of the cases is still grossly disproportionate.

The context of today''s numbers are bad tbh, high numbers for Wicklow , Kildare,Louth Donegal and Limerick but hopefully they are close contacts/related to clusters

There are 115 cases, most of which they consider community rather than school spread. 96 schools have tested people.

They certainly will when the Dubs have to go to the pubs in Wicklow and Kildare etc.

"In a statement, Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said we are now seeing a higher proportion of cases in older age groups."
    Shocker.

Not hugely when you take in Hospital concentration and population density, lots of people living in very cramped conditions in city centres due to lack of housing. Dublin is busier in almost every way which means more interactions. 40% is about right.

    240 cases, 1 death.

    119 Dublin.

Not bad. The best we can hope for is for the numbers to stabilise

Isn’t there a meeting tomorrow or maybe it’s an announcement. I know something in relation to Dublin is scheduled for tomorrow but I can’t remember what it is.

Its kind of amazing that they didn't begin the new plan with Dublin at level 3, only to do it 3 days later anyway. They really wouldn't fill you with confidence.

    We're close to the border?
A restaurant had a case and they passed it on to a few co-workers, so there's one cluster anyway, not sure really.
