No apparently can’t get the virus unless within 2 metres of someone infected for period of 15 mins or more

So, the aerosol theory of transmission is bunkum?

I can’t think of a single reason why me, my friends or my family should reduce our already low number of contacts tbh
Sure, but you're not a source of risk any more than most of the rest of us are.

There are contingency plans for that. I think i saw a potential 250 extra ICU that can be added but open to correction on that number.

I remember an interview on the radio a week or so ago and they said the Government had a contract signed with the private hospitals . They handed them back over with the understanding that the Government can once again take over one or many private hospitals at short notice

They won't lockdown the country again, but even if they did they won't be able to lockdown the people. And they know it, which is why we are not going to see another lockdown. The time has come to self-lockdown if you feel vulnerable.

The problem with this logic is that people with health problems and middle aged persons can become severely ill and require hospitalization. They can be treated with intensive care and deaths can be prevented, but only so long as the hospital system can keep up with demand.

Once demand outstrips available intensive treatment, some of those people with underlying health problems will start dying. It is inevitable. It only needs to be a small percentage for the deaths to start accumulating. That is what is in store if we reach a situation whereby there are 1,000+ cases daily for a sustained period of time. Like, this is why we had to have a lockdown in the first place. The Government didn't do it for the crack.

What's really worrying is that we haven't really done what was needed to ramp up available treatment in our hospital system. That should have been done while we had the lockdown and the inevitable lull in new cases that followed.

So if you want all middle aged, older persons or those with underlying conditions to self-isolate then you're locking down half the country as it is.

The fact is this communication strategy has been a complete and utter failure.
We’re being told: reduce your contacts. That’s it?
    Why?
Where are people catching this? Why is Dublin’s numbers higher than everywhere else? Why did Donegal have high numbers today? Why did Waterford have high numbers yesterday? What’s going on with the low numbers in Sligo?
Is a bit of information too much to ask for?

They think the general public are ****ing idiots.

R rate is over 1 for entire country.

Many people were back living normal lives which collectively you cannot do.

Looks at this stage they have lost control.

You can't keep r rate over 1 for 2 months and think everything will be ok.

Because he can. All they need to do is throw a few numbers his way to confuse him.

They really aren't!!. I work in Dublin hospitals and can guarantee numbers are low. Why did you post that? Covid patients don't go into general ED anyway, everyone is tested before that.

    Why did I post it.
Oh maybe because of this. No need to explain how testing works to me

We said the exact same watching the News here

All we get is “ we are worried , very concerned , its worrying and concerning and numbers increasing “

We both screamed “ Then bloody do something “
Nphet advise the government, there SFA other than write a letter with the advice and give it to the government.
It's up to the government to actually heed the advice.

Despite what people believe, nphet do not run the country.

The r rate is skewed by the high numbers in Dublin. Last week it was decreasing towards 1 without Dublin included.

It seems pretty simple.. if people do nothing, the virus will spread. If people reduce their contacts, the virus will spread less.

Do you need the NPHET or the government to tell you that?

He did say it's not very different to the rest of the country. In some parts of Dublin it could be way higher.

They've said tonight both Dublin and nationally its nearly the same.

Its increased nationally even with Dublin out

People would nearly be better off letting close contacts know themselves.
