    takeaway only from stage 4
Non food pubs can stay open until level 5 according to today’s document.

Unless I'm misreading it, it actually says at level 5 pubs (I refuse to use "wet" pubs as there's no such thing) are open for takeaway only, while specifically saying that the others are open for takeaway food only.

So a pub which serves food can't serve takeaway alcohol at level 5.

I'm sure that's not the intention but that's what the document says. Shows how coherent the whole thing is.

All on licences contain an off licence, every pub from gogan's to the gravediggers can sell you take away once it's in a sealed container for consumption off the premises.

Our government is so ****ing incompetent they added the word food and confused the whole ****ing thing.....

Oh yeah, I'm not arguing that they shouldn't be allowed to. But that's not what the document says.

I'm also still convinced the SI they brought in last week about recording food consumption also accidentally made it illegal to start drinking before you get your meal.
(11.2.iii.a.II - it's a bit of a triple negative but basically says drink can be "consumed ... during the meal or after the meal has ended")

So is there a time limit for normal restaurants too? It's still 1h 45m? I'm going for din in town tomorrow but was hoping to stretch it out for a while

If tables are 2m apart, no time limit.

Should have opened them all up back in June, Ireland as usual is the Dunce of the class in Europe keeping them all closed when pretty much everywhere else is open...

Two exist. Though they're so anal about merging everything I'm not sure why.

I've messaged mods about it, but you have to dig to find this one, don't know why you'd bother

Anyone else think they will decide to shut all pubs (even food ones) coming into the October Bank Holiday weekend ?

Nope, why would they. Still have to have everyone out by 11.30 even with a bank holiday

I think they are rapidly losing public support and they know it. I can see restrictions being rowed back on if anything.

If they cancel Halloween yes they will have to.

They will have to cancel Halloween at this rate. Do you think?

It depends on how much herd immunity the kids are generating back at school also, we should be seeing the benefits of this surreptitious tactic soon enough?

Keep dreaming, the pubs in Dublin at least won't open until sometime in 2021, maybe after a vaccine is released...
Now with Dr. Death Holohan back at the reigns of power in Ireland there's a full lockdown coming in the next 4 weeks...

This time next year the pub industry will be a thing of the past, and if the rest of the economy falls down from the double whammy of NPHET restrictions and Brexit then the pubs will become state run soup kitchens....And don't think this isn't too far from the truth!

Agree, listening to the radio this evening and there were dissenting views from the mainstream (for those who believe the media is controlled etc), any further restrictions will be pretty limited and specific imo, the pubs have just opened can't see them being closed again bar specific areas.

Come out of the fear bubble. We’ll be back to normal in a month or so. Watch this space.

Not fear, more like complete lack of faith in NPHETFFG's will or ability to lead us out of the Covid and Brexit crises.

Doubt NPHET give a hoot about Brexit, that'll rumble on for longer than Covid.

I was lumping them in with FFFG as the lines of who has the real power in this country are blurred for the last number of months...

Leo can sense populism. He’s come out today and said maybe we should only be counting serious cases etc. He knows people are copping on to the massaged numbers

Little glimmer of hope of a december opening for Pubs/restaurants if we can go to phase 2

King Tony or Leo will be out soon to dismiss it no doubt
