    Cowan was Churchillian in comparison

Why is he giving an interview when the cabinet have had to isolate?. He's standing beside McCullough.

He was also pleading with his hands to stop questioning me like this .

    It's baffling

    Good Grief

People were claiming this scare is a great reason for the Govt to get out of interviews .

MM gives an interview . Why is he giving an interview ? is asked

They realised ventilators were actually killing people

I thought this was another one of those Dial suspension "jokes", but it turns out its possible true also (Quick Google search)??

Obviously i'm missing out on some of the news updates along the way....

What about all the pictures from Itay at the start with the wards of people on Ventilators and head coverings, is that now seen as a bad approach??

What are the main treatments now in ICU for Covid?

Edit:- I see some more info on some of my questions already posted as I was typing this. Thanks

I think David McCullagh was the problem, trying to score points on MM.
Didn't help that McCullagh got a few facts wrong earlier in the interview

If they're all meant to be self isolating , is 2metres away from each other the new definition of that ? Ridiculous .

No, there were 120 cases over weekend not reported. This is 47 of those. No one is really sure why there is a delay but it happens regularly.

Thanks, how do you know there were 120 unreported . How are these numbers tracked?

Okay he was 2 metres away from McCullough and outside, but is he not supposed to be isolating - could they not have done that remotely?

Mad interview, MM close to losing the rag.

Ok he was 2 metres but given he had just been in prolonged contact with someone who had symptoms why give an interview?

Why would he put others at risk?

It goes against everything they advise others to do . Just like Donnelly earlier.

We have 5 levels now.. fine...
What are the triggers to move from one to another?

It’s 2.5 for now. If the health minister is positive and has infected the cabinet they will probably move to level 3. It’s wait and see really. Followed by whack a mole if other hotspots emerge. It’s all in the plan as MM would say.

It's about 7% of what it was at peak. We haven't even approached needing surge yet.

Well, yes, everybody knows it's not as bad as the peak - nowhere near as bad - but it's the direction things are pointing that people are concerned about.

Unless I'm mistaken have hospital admissions not increased four fold inside four weeks.

That's because the Irish electorate is monumentally stupid. FG are as responsible for this disaster as FF

They're meant to be restricting movements I think, not self isolating, there is a difference

We only have 537 ICU beds.

Its pathetic how few we have.

Interestingly some of the poorer country in Europe like Romania are up at the higher end.

    134_2012_2627_Fig1_HTML.gif

As far as I know we have around 275, but the remainder of your number is emergency capacity from private hospitals, operating theatres and the like, which is not ideal as may not have experienced ICU staff and doctors to look after patients adequately.
I would be praying hard that it doesn't come to that !

Honestly there isn't an Irish party I'd want in charge of this cluster****.

Oxygen, steroids and antibiotics to fight potential secondary infection are the primary tools. Ventilation still is an important part of how to deal with it though

Fine Gael are just as at fault as FF.

They are but the public perception of how FG handled(I’m not saying they handled it good or bad) seems be holding up. FF don’t have that political goodwill.

    I’m confused.

If someone I’ve been in contact with develops a cough, do I now have to self isolate too? I tuned out months ago tbh.

I have asked 6 different people what they understand this sentance to mean

“ Given concern over the incidence of COVID-19 in Dublin, and based on NPHET’s recommendations, Cabinet has agreed that the following additional measures will apply in the county:

no more than two households should meet at any given time. Socialising can continue at indoor or outdoor public venues, but only with people from your own household or one other household, and in groups of maximum 6 people”

And all six interpret it as meaning one household can visit at a time . Another household can visit at another time

The use of “ at a givin time “ means at this particular time .

I felt Leo and Simon Harris had some competence and confidence at least in their briefings and handling of this compared to MM and Simon D

While the hospital numbers at the moment are obviously quite 'high' it's worth noting that current numbers are about 7% of peak.

At present rate of growth looking at hitting peak levels in about 9 weeks time.

You and a lot of people tuned out months ago, that's the problem.

Lack of awareness of how bad this virus is.
