    Of course not.
    What’s 4 divided by 29000000000?

It started out as it’s not airborne.
    Masks don’t work.

    Now it’s airborne
    Masks work
Kids don’t transmit it because we need them in school.
Kids do bring it to school but definitely don’t get it in school (yet)

    Reinfection is not possible.
    It’s possible but it’s mild.
    It’s possible but it’s rare.

    Etc etc. It’s getting boring.

    The fear is unreal.

    Go back to your cave.

Face masks could be giving people Covid-19 immunity, researchers suggest
Mask wearing might also be reducing the severity of the virus and ensuring that a greater proportion of new infections are asymptomatic

That was mentioned earlier on while other counties might see pubs open next week.

That won't work. There will be pub tourism. People from Dublin going to other counties for boozing.

D'ya reckon that'd be a thing? I get it might happen if you're in Leixlip beside Lucan, but I wouldn't be arsed going to Bray for a few pints. Doubt many would unless they're right on the border.

Bray is going to do a roaring trade !!

    The Dart will be jammed

Maynooth and Celbridges day will arrive soon!

This obsession with the pubs is unbelievable

This is just stupidity at a level only FF could be capable of. Watch now as Dublin empties at the weekend in search of the pubs that are open, thus increasing the spread around the country.

Jeez, that's some image and a poor reflection on a society that's supposed to be trying to close down a virus. Travelling out of Dublin to have a couple in less than two hours. Do you really think that would happen to any discernible level?

What a shambles, day 1 and they are already blurring the lines. If there are 5 phases then don’t complicate it, if there is a mix between 2 & 3 then it’s really 2.5 so have a 10 point plan.

Yep. We were told the 5 phases plan was to make things simple, each county would be at 1 of the 5 phases and we'd know exactly what that meant in terms of restrictions. Now before it's even started they've confused it by sticking a 2.5 phase in there.

I always thought this 18 month 5 phase plan was a waste of time and be thorn up by Christmas but at least thought they'd get a few weeks out it, not abandoned before it's even started. No wonder they hired a PR company to try spin this shambles :pac:

It's great that they've incentivised the spread with a tax rebate. It would be funny if it weren't so serious.

Work from home where possible is the statement. Commuting to work is allowed though as its essential

Was it not mentioned earlier that the Govt were wanting workers to return to offices to help bolster city economies?

Big treatment news in the last few hours.

University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine scientists have isolated the smallest biological molecule to date that completely and specifically neutralizes the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is the cause of COVID-19. This antibody component, which is 10 times smaller than a full-sized antibody, has been used to construct a drug—known as Ab8—for potential use as a therapeutic and prophylactic against SARS-CoV-2.

The researchers report today in the journal Cell that Ab8 is highly effective in preventing and treating SARS-CoV-2 infection in mice and hamsters. Its tiny size not only increases its potential for diffusion in tissues to better neutralize the virus, but also makes it possible to administer the drug by alternative routes, including inhalation. Importantly, it does not bind to human cells—a good sign that it won’t have negative side-effects in people.

Here's an example of an expert talking out of school.
I call a plumber when.I have an issue with my drain not an electrician.

I'd ask an infectious disease expert not an immunologist when faced with controlling infection.

a problem is lots will have tax liabilities greater than any refund due to the way the covid wage subsidy was administered and might get a nasty shock when they submit a claim

So you mean Dublin South East and North West to level 3 and areas like Dublin South to go Level 2 with rest of country?
Nope - I'd like more nuance within Dublin but we're not going to get it.

I just booked some activities for a holiday in mid-October today. Hoping we get to go - just need some of my fellow Dubliners to be more disciplined.

There not taking the money back next year it's staggered between 2022 until 2026 and I think there will be an option to pay it off early.

PAYE workers never had to pay liabilities all at once from underpayment in employment taxes (Form 12/p21 balancing statement) for whatever reason. Could stagger over several years. If your an employee who is registered for income tax also (Form 11) you will have pay balance owing for 2020 in November 2021. Revenue always had a soft spot for PAYE workers.

But they will offset any refund under the dine out scheme first and not actually give you a refund.

So we're moving to the EU list when it becomes active but until then 25 per 100k is the green list, so we don't make our own greenlist and neither do plenty of counties in Ireland. Can already see tomorrow turning into a disaster that not even hiring a PR company can sort out

    Jokeshop

    That definitely won't please Ryanair

This government seems determined to destroy the aviation industry here

I really worry for the bases in Cork and Shannon

    I very much doubt it.
At this stage any regular pinter in Dublin will know where to go to drink as much as they like for as long as they like. At the very worst they might get stung for some 9 euro muck which would still be a lot less than the cost of travelling elsewhere.

Not to be that guy but: treatments works effectively in lab mice cliché

Positive potential yes but nothing more until researchers show its benefits to humans.

The original point I made stands. People will send in receipts innocently expecting a rebate, and oblivious to the underpayment accruing under the wage subsidy scheme. They will trigger a P21 balancing statement, that might never have issued if the receipts were never submitted.
