You're absolutely right, and I really don't understand how there has been feck-all conversation in this country about the need for ventilation.

This has puzzled me from the very start. I've been kicked out of beer gardens to go inside to the pub with the doors closed.
Some of the government grants should have been used to put in proper ventilation indoors for workers and shoppers.

According to RTE, No wet pubs for Dublin on the 21st

It's silly there still going with the €9 food rule for the rest, should be no difference..I'd say there's more to that it would be highly unfair on the wet pubs if the rest can stay open.

Still won't stop the majority of pubs being open. Local near me charged €9 for food but gave 2 free pints instead.

Hmm, he deleted all the local incidence tweets, wonder were they embargoed or a mistake

It's possible to be moved back to a ward, still counted in overall numbers & ICU gets reported at different times to general beds. HSE report tonight will list if unfortunately there has been a death in ICU

Surely though that would be reflected on the icu discharge which is updated the same time as current icu numbers and icu admissions as these are updated at the same time irrespective of the hospital numbers?

Just one example why Dublin is so out of control.

Ahhh, Glynn and Nolan are being ignored by the government.

I imagine the press conference tonight will hear the phrase "we only advise" a lot more.

Really? The Restrictions in Kildare, Offaly, Laois and outdoor sports put behind closed doors, mandatory face coverings in shops, public transport all came from the strong advice from Nolan, Glynn and Co.

I see Varadkar out today saying there is growing confidence in a vaccine being available in early 2021. Says that older people, at risk groups and healthcare staff would be vaccinated first.

First time I've heard him talking about it to be honest

I really doubt general population will have had it by this time next year, but hopefully everyone in the above groups will be vaccinated by then.

Perhaps the fact that there are lots of people who don't want to be first in line for a vaccine will be useful in allowing those that are keen to get one as soon as possible to do so.

Well if Dublin is in level 3 then yeah its fairly nailed on they won't open.

    Will open everywhere else.

But don't see what difference it makes to be honest as places serving food will still be open and as NPHET said they haven't contributed to spread and are controlled environments

That’s irrelevant. We have almost a million tests done for coronavirus. Someone posted before that the flu tests are like 20k? How can you possibly compare the figures when testing is so low?

Because people in ICU with flu will have been tested, even if the broader population is not, and it was ICU figures is what I was comparing, not overall numbers

Everyone wont have it by this time next year but based on current trial progress you would certainly imagine that large numbers will have it and in the process of getting it

I thought pubs and restaurants were being treated the same going forward from 21st?

So anyone that wants to go to a pub will get a bunch of mates into a car and just drive to the next county.

100% agree. Especially the part in Bold. Managers love their meetings and whiteboard sessions etc, but in reality it's a load of bull and a waste of time. We've had no loss in productivity and output since this started and it has proved the folly of the above also.

I do miss the social aspect of the office but not so much as to the detriment of my family life. Long commutes are an absolute scourge of modern life and those of us who were forced to do it are seeing the other side now and it will be difficult to go back. Companies can also win here by reducing the need to physical office space when it is not required.

Yup. Maybe one of the reasons if there is some kind of push back to offices might be because one or two managerial types might be finding themselves somewhat under employed now that a lot of the waffle, jaunts and padding has been stripped away. Plus theres the office space real estate angle Iguana mentioned. Can people not think up smart ideas to do with the excess space?

Supposed to be, the government sources last week said they would be but the plan is still being drafted and won't be approved until tomorrow so plenty can and will change.

Looks like Dublin pubs probably won't open, seems as if it'll be one of the big cabinet talking points tomorrow

The pubs in Bray will be chockers.

I'm back in the office 2 days a week, and its ok actually. I'd be happy to keep it at that though.

Stopping house parties is like wiping up the splashes from a leeky tap. We can either try fix the leek (zero covid) or use a bucket (manage the virus) right now we're doing neither. We're going to 'live with the virus' until it's too widespread then we'll enforce strict messures once again.

Strangely, as I read this, I am stirring homemade leek soup.
