I think politically pub reopening will be delayed a week or so. I can't see them on Tuesday opening pubs outside Dublin while at the same time imposing restrictions in Dublin. I suspect the first sight that numbers are decreasing in Dublin, pubs will be given green light to open

    Why not?

Its the whole point of the living with covid plan to allow certain restrictions in certain areas.

Would be highly unfair on those outside of Dublin.

The level of the area decides the restrictions. No more of this across the country stuff when its one area that needs restrictions

Think the pubs in Dublin can forget about opening now. Be lucky to see Xmas at this rate.

You will get a shock next Monday I’d say

On the contrary, I think they'll open pubs in areas of the country where case numbers allow it. Keeping pubs in Dublin, or parts of Dublin, closed will send a message that proper adherence to protocols or restrictions bears fruit,

I'd say we will break the 400 mark on Tuesday.

Pubs won't be delay. Its the house parties that are the issue. A lot of pub owners need the re opening.

The scenes in England are a mess this weekend. Absolute carnage on beaches and parks with people not giving a hoot about masks or SD. That said i believe Dún Laoghaire in Dublin was bonkers with people today so could be the same all over.

No one is looking for a lock down, only people who keep saying that are the likes of you.

Wonder will all civil servants be back in the office soon or work from home still apply? I know some already back but with shops closing down etc. With wanting people back into towns etc. To shop in them. Hopefully down the line they will let them work from home half a wk and other in office forever as they proved that they can.

Herd immunity on a french aircraft carrier. 70% of young adult sailors became infected. The whole cross immunity with other corona viruses is unlikely. The cost of getting 70% of population infected would be severe considering we are nowhere near that.

The idea of no more than six in one gathering from no more than two external households is a total joke.

I do realise that many including myself will observe it, but honestly, what is to stop people ignoring it and continuing the house parties etc.? Really, what is the disincentive?

I thought it was a third got infected, even if it was 70% does that mean that 30% have immunity

What the people actually want in Dublin, what kind of restrictions. They can't close anymore businesses.

Apart from some pubs, which other businesses haven’t been open for several months?

Well the party people got hysterical when the idea of having the Gardai actually stop houseparties was raised, and they were for some reason heeded so yeah, nothing can be done.

If enough people observe it, it will have an effect. Estimates are you only need about 70% compliance with selected measures to achieve nearly all of the desired outcome

As i said before the same people will stick to the rules and the same people simply wont . It doesn’t matter what colour the restriction are the same people will flaunt them

Good video. Good German data on the CFR. Huge drop in CFR even in older age groups.

German estimates of the CFR for people aged 80 +

Week 18, average CFR was 29%

    Weeks 19 – 27, fell to 17%

Mid July onwards, CFR was 11%

    A decrease of 61%.

    German CFR in 60-79 years

    March/April 9%

    July August 2%

The whole cross immunity theory with other coronaviruses does not contend that it prevents someone from becoming infected, but that the subsequent infection will be less serious than otherwise expected, and does not decrease the level at which herd immunity will be achieved. Would be better described as acquired resistance. At least that’s the theory in scientific papers on the matter. YouTube videos are a different world.

Plus if office's opening now be lots of people in them from multiple households so can spread easier. Just silly if they do that with households then.

I agree. Unless restrictions are enforced and there are consequences for breaking them then it's pointless as they will just result in a cycle of rising and falling numbers.

It would help if they started by getting the Meat Processing plants and DP centres in order.

Even if they did the above the pubs are going to become a problem though so it's just window dressing.

I think only an all over alcohol ban can solve the Pub and House Party problem. As long as either house party's or pubs are active then numbers will not drop.
