Gamepass, no brainer, there hasn't been a blackout on it in my 4 (I think) years of using it, maybe longer. If you're on holiday in Brazil you can get it for €65, such good value. It's not going to be much of an issue for us this year, but when we're scheduled late or Thurs/Mon games I can't watch live, Gamepass has 3 or 4 options for watching it the next day full broadcast, game in 40 (removes all stoppages) and highlights only. It's the easiest recommendation to make these days imo, a couple of years ago they had some crashing issues but touch wood all good now.

I do the same as Hots, take an auld day trip to Brazil when I'm signing up for it. Gamepass had the 40 minute condensed version of last nights game ready to before 630 this morning

Just wondering how are people going to watch Jets games live this year. My go to option from last season has been shutdown. I know we cant discuss anything illegal here so if anyone has any legal options please post them (other options please PM me). I would be interested in peoples experience with game pass in Ireland as there is an asterisk that says blackouts may apply in UK and Ireland.

The 2 early games sky show on Sunday (1800 & 2130) use to have a blackout applied to them, but since the new crowd took over they've showed all games

Yeah sounds like we all went to Brazil in early September again this year. No freezing streams, no sound issues, no pop ups saying 5000 women in Athlone want to meet me <lies> - Gamepass only show in town. You get to see more actual NFL too as you can watch a game or two in 40 mins from the weekend on the laptop while cooking dinner, doing housework etc. Noice.

Until the first drive ends on our own 17 yard line and 4th and 21.

Looks like you were spot on. Awful stuff from the Jets.

My 3-13 prediction is looking awfully optimistic right now!

Looks like we might be in the Lawrence sweepstakes here.
Don't mind that clown Gase, he will be gone by Halloween.
Flacco will start games for us, them disgraceful interceptions Darnold continues to throw are indefensible.

Maybe I should have waited a week before investing in GamePass! That was some sh1t show by the Jets. I seem to recall that there were some weeks last season where the team was accused of being unprepared but this really took the biscuit. I can't accept the Covid excuse as it's the same for both teams. My faith in Sam is severely shaken. It is clear he is not progressing and issues are not being corrected. Sam has to take responsibility for some of this but also the coaching staff bears some of the blame. The Jets dont even have a specialist QB coach. Nobody can tell me that Gase and Loggains are doing a good job coaching Sam. Also our GM has gotten a free ride so far but he needs to intervene to change the situation. He also deserves criticism for the failure to surround Sam with adequate weapons and for some of the free agent duds he signed so far. Hopefully the defensive performance isn't a sign of a second year regression for Gregg Williams but the signs are there. Also the best thing I saw on Twitter yesterday was the suggestion that Quinnen Williams nickname be changed from Q to Q-Anon.

That first half might be the worst football I've seen us play? Just awful.

Gase is just abysmal, the run game is unimaginative and just bizarrely predictable. The screens being called are wildly ineffective. Where were the slant routes? Or small checkdowns? Anything to build some momentum for Darnold while still moving forward. We got Bell moving once, why not get him out in the open more often?

Sam missed 3/4 throws in the first half, the INT was brutal and then running out of bounds for a loss and the delay of game is just really poor... In the same breath though, he must have hit crowder, perriman and herndon in the hands 5 times with drops? And any 50-50 ball had no chance of being caught. I'm going to struggle to crucify Sam and call for Lawrence unless he basically plays like he did in the first half of that game for the season; he's just got such a poor cast around him.

Hoping Mims and Perine can make week 2 (and Bell). Running two or three running backs in some pistol sets would be interesting and hopefully Mims being on can push perriman into being a pure go-guy to stretch the field a bit.

Minor positives: Bless Austin tackled well. Becton wasn't made a show of, the pen was quite borderline. Fant was alright. McDougal was fine. Maye stepped up nicely, although I'd like to see some more variance in that, he seemed to either be an obvious rusher or sitting deep, not much being hidden. I liked seeing Gregg have the balls to pull Desir I guess. Mann punted pretty well :o

What's the go to Jets podcasts these days guys. I listen to can't wait as part of the athletic subscription and turn on the Jets with Joe Caparoso. Anything better out there?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,200 ✭✭✭hots

Yeah I just do turn on the Jets, would prefer a longer form one though.

Agreed. Joe Caparoso has a similar level of dismay when reviewing the Jets as myself so tend to listen to him.

Bell on IR, Becton injured but practicing so 'probable'.
    And it's game 1.

    We can't have anything nice.

ah half the team are marked as a doubt at this stage. Only hope for a sub 20 margin is if Jimmy G doesn't take it to the air at all, our Run D should be able to suffocate them a bit.

I listen to Play like a Jet with Scot Mason. It's a daily podcast with lots of different contributors and formats so you can pick and choose which you want to listen to. Flight Deck with Rich Cimini is weekly and he can be hard to listen to at times. For general NFL stuff, Move the Sticks, Around the NFL or Stick to Football are all good.

Just saw that Crowder is out for the 49ers game to be replaced by Braxton Berrios. Another hamstring injury! I dont know what is going on with the Jets and hamstrings but I am going to blame Gase because everything is his fault and I can't feel any hope for this team until he's gone.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,200 ✭✭✭hots

Expecting a 3 score margin today anyway, no crowder and no bell is brutal. Running is going to be based on 40 y/o Gore grinding up the middle, Ballage and Josh Adams (guessing Perine isn't ready for this week). Passing is basically Herndon or bust with Hogan, Perriman, Berrios, Malone our total depth; particularly annoying as the 49ers secondary is basically made up of scrubs too, I still have no faith in seeing any separation today. With Gore & Ballage in the backfield for once Gase will have an excuse for only running up the middle, no outside or passing threat out of the backfield. Ideally we'd see a heap of 2RB/2TE sets, I won't be holding my breath.

On defense, less worrying but they'll still grind us down, Jimmy G has Aiyuk making his debut most likely, Pettis and Sanu are both better than anything we'll be fielding too. I'd hope we can at least make them throw a bit and keep Reed quiet enough. Their rb depth is very good, seeing as they have an actual human at coach I'd expect to see lots of rb creativity to make up for the receiving injuries they're carrying.

24 - 3 need to be going for it there. Make it a 2 score game.

Well that was awful. Only positives I could see were the Quinnen Williams finally showed up, Becton was solid and Sam didn't make any big mistakes. After that it was terrible everywhere else. Depressing stuff and hard to see how it will turn around with this roster and this head coach.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,415 ✭✭✭FreeOSCAR

Another awful performance, turns out we are ****e on both O and D this year.
Gase is a clown, the Johnsons are clowns. Joe D isn't bulletproof either.

The team is so boring to watch, severe lack of playmakers on both sides of the ball.

Positive - Becton looks like he is a stud and a very good 2 sack game by Williams.

The apathy I have watching this team the past few years. Close to watching Redzone instead of the Jets Gamepass feed for the remainder of the season.

    Such a ****ty franchise. :(

Clearly the owner is the issue. It's going on far too long for it to be anybody else..

Nail on the head, Q and Sam not looking bad was a relief after week 1, Becton looked class out there, wish he could have had more reps with Bosa really, for week 2 really impressive. Basically we're now playing the season for those 3, and maybe Perine/Davis to see what they've got.

The offense wasn't a surprise, between gase and injuries and the roster in general, to be expected at this stage. The defense to roll over in the first half like that again is just pathetic, the number of missed tackles is insane, and they were effectively playing a full second string.

Owners are a big problem, a large part being that they don't give the GM full control. Let JD fire gase in the next few weeks and bring in his own guys.

Not much to cheer for this season, but Brian Baldinger is sharing a lot of man-love for Becton. https://twitter.com/i/status/1308447818328297473

It's a big thing to be getting right too, both tackles have gone from worrying to at least solid with some room to grow, if our centre was more stable we'd be in alright shape on the line. If Becton works out it's a bit hit for JD, there was a massive amount of doubt about Becton, it's the first 1st round pick that has required some thought in a while too.

At some stage the honeymoon period for Joe Douglas as GM will have to end. The majority of the criticism so far this season has been reserved for Gase but Douglas has to take some criticism for the state of the roster. The Jets have 4 WRs for tomorrow one of whom is injured and also they have 4 QBs on the roster tomorrow. Ignoring what many called a historically deep WR draft in order to take luxury picks like a 3rd string QB and a punter is starting to look like bad judgement. Then he compounded the mistake by not resigning Robbie Anderson. He may have improved Darnolds protection but he has also stunted his growth by not giving him adequate weapons.

It's going to be very difficult for the Jets to resist a QB in the draft, especially as they will be picking high in all likelihood. The circumstances aren't there for Darnold to thrive, so it's difficult to see him making a strong enough case to hold onto his job in the Jets in the medium term.
