Then again... im outside a starbucks in sutton sitting in my car in the carpark right now.. there are about 10/12 what id guess are 5th years... in close proximity... messing... play fighting.... ONE kid with a mask... just like nothing is up... going home to family... probably siblings or parents with asthmas or other underlying issues... depressing... you can educate all day but if kids dont wanna listen... parents though.. gotta start parenting.. i know that is unfashionable but....
Sitting in a car park furiously tapping away and getting enraged about some kids mucking about. What don't you just call the Guards and be done with it. End of the world. The Stasi is alive and well.

Honest to God. Would you listen to yourself....rolleyes.png

Well the fact that you igrnored that fact that he/she said they were sitting in a Starbucks car park drinking coffee, surely he/she is entitled to a break without you implying they have little to be doing then? Why do you care what they are doing with their day?

    1. I didn't ignore the fact they were having a coffee. In fact, I even said it in my post, which goes to show how sick your mind is, reading what you want to read into it

    2. As for the second underlined part, perhaps you should ask that of the person sat in a car park, reporting what other people are doing in their lives?

Yep, it seems the cases are coming from places/things that were open all along - international travel, meat factories, etc. Not places like hairdressers or restaurants that were shut for months and then had to wait until later phases to reopen as they were deemed too high risk.

A couple of months after them being open, have there been any clusters or cases of note from hairdressers or beauty salons, or restaurants? And I don’t mean one case where a staff member tested positive and the place closed for a week or two as a precaution.

There have been clusters from pub/ restaurants, haven't heard any with beautysalons or hairdressers , but they are different businesses really .
Think a lot of fuss being made here about this new regulation.
It is just an excuse to weed out non complying pubs acting as restaurants, because let's be honest here , they will be the ones who won't comply with regulations when / if wet pubs allowed to open .

I have a question if anyone knows the answer?

I have to have an operation in a few weeks (it was cancelled in february due to the virus), and I'll have to have a covid test first, which I understand and don't mind.

Do I need to have this done privately? I can't see my GP referring me when I have no symptoms and am not in contact with anyone who's been infected. I've been seeing on social media that apparently I'll have to pay for this privately and I'm not getting any answers from my GP.

It is normally arranged by the admitting hospital 2 to 3 days before surgery .
You don't have to have symptoms, in fact if you have your op will be cancelled until you are clear.

If there were clusters and community spread from the places you mentioned, it would be headline news on RTE ever night and the subject of many pages here.

Was on the news last week and NPHET briefings .

Clusters or community spread? I thought they couldn't identify community spread, but regardless, they are not known as a significant source from what I gather, compared to other sources which are not being watched more closely.

Working nights last week didn't see the news and I gave up watching the Nphet briefings long ago.
    Can you provide a link?

Speaking to lad this morning who is just back from 2 weeks in Louth.

The local pub does not serve food but what they had was a takeaway menu from the local chipper to "order" from and they would bring it up to you...yadda yadda.

I don't think it's rumors private testing has taken place, it's pretty much been admitted by the meat factories that they employed a private testing company.

But the daily positive swabs vs new cases announced is all over the place.
There was a 7 day period in July with 200 positive swabs but 321 new cases announced.
2 weeks later, 715 positive swabs but only 556 new cases.

I agree its a mess. Said it weeks ago that the numbers were completely all over the place.

At the time certain posters completely disputed it for some reason but its as clear as day some cases are reported when the swabs return

Still no operations report for last night which is odd. 40 and 7 in hospital and ICU according to dashboard.

155 positive swabs on 14,064 tests.

Either something we don't know about is going on with the positive swabs, or there could be 100+ held back in the last 3 days.

5 clusters from pubs / restaurants. One of note numbers wise. All clusters are now closed as per HPSC data.

5 isn't alot now at all is it

According to the C. Tracker in the last 24 hours. 1 admission 2 discharges, 40 total confirmed and 7 confirmed ICU.

Large number of tests, up there with the highest number in a 24hr period. Not the highest put up there.

What makes you say that? 1.1% positivity would be in line with previous days.

Positivity rate 1.1% - almost identical to yesterday’s (1.09%). Very low rate. A huge amount of daily tests the last couple of days.

As I said offence is a choice. Think about it.

Nothing to think about. The implications in your post were downright offensive and can be seen as such no matter what side of the debate somebody is on.

Youtuber on plane with wife and two young kids, great example for children.

Like to do it is one thing but to give an interview to a newspaper on about how much off a laugh it was. I checked his youtube, travelling all around, lastest video has a comment about the interview and he is making fun of the person telling them.to stay in their safe space and the virus is harmless.

    Attention seeking cnut

The 7-day positivity rate increased from 1.2 to 1.3%
If today's number was 1.1% then we generally wouldn't expect the 7-day rate to increase. If the data is marginal between 1.2 and 1.3 though or day 8 was big drop/increase, then the stats can go weird.
