No where on the RTE article posted earlier that I saw was it mentioned he tested positive for Covid.

Or the Irish Times. Very poor reporting.

Whats with all the reports going around about long term organ damage that may lead to premature death years from now.
If that IS the case this virus is far deadlier than anything every before it.... we may aswell ignore the death figures now.

Of course they do and very few have long term damage yet. Too early.

That has been pointed out here many times over the past weeks.

To be honest, it took me reading up on it to realise.
I'm more aware of what to look out for now and just plenty of rest if I catch covid and/or myocarditis.

If every case of the flu was reported on, every death, every secondary infection caused by it, it would seem very scary too. There is literally nothing new about these potential side effects. They apply to any virus. Theres even asympomatic flu cases too who might spread it to others but no stigma around that like there is with covid. Some people need to get some perspective.

It's not a flu, it's exponentially more deadly and infectious and hangs around 12 months of the year.

Quite sad that still has to be explained at this stage into the pandemic.

Just like what happens with the Flu, there's no surprise there.

I suppose it's the high percentage that's the issue. Not saying it's a different side effect...just curious as to whether it may potentially be a higher potential risk following covid.

    You can't catch Myocarditis.

Ffs, I didn't say it was the flu. I said if every case of the flu was reported in similar fashion, it would be terrifying to a lot of people. Quite sad the level of reading comprehension really.

Also, am I wrong in saying that all viral illnesses , including the flu, can cause secondary infections such as myocarditis or kawasaki syndrome?

Spookwoman - thanks for the figures, just wondering if there's a typo in the first paragraph?

There were no deaths announced today, I thought?

Thailand has recorded 100 days without a case. Cue comments about communism and Asians.

Why is everyone getting their panties in a twist, about the keeping of food orders.

The amount of pubs that are giving out fake receipts to sidestep the regulations is beyond ridiculous. Or places allowing folks to buy 9€ worth of taytos, which I have witnessed first hand

Get up the yard with that shíté, you were not so subtly trying to make a false equivalency.

It's been done to death, you are now new you are not unique you are just plain boring.

You live in the states right?
The COVID-19 pandemic has spread so rapidly since the first U.S. case was reported Jan. 20 that it’s now the third-leading cause of death in the country, Thomas Frieden, MD, former director of the CDC

And despite this...no massive case figures from pubs!

Breaking news! Virus fooled by fake receipts!!

One of the doctors on the charity cycle said covid could strike anyone, the implication being anyone of any age can end up in ICU, when none of the stats back this up and the likelihood is miniscule for a young person.

There are plenty of stories of if killing and hugely negatively impacting young people. Furthermore, the future implications and long-term effects of the disease aren't known yet. It could ruin you lungs, it could leave you infertile after 20yrs. Who knows? Still best to keep numbers as low as possible until more is known.

It has killed 400-500 people in UK under 50 with no pre-conditions.
At this stage I think everyone knows it mostly hits older and those with pre-conditions.

Worth redresssing the balance that yes it can put someone young and healthy into ICU.
So yes it could strike anyone.
The implication is your own spin.

No, i wasn't comparing it to the flu. I was making a point about the reporting. Can you even read? Labeling people trump supporters for no reason though, so original

I don't mind the people who are self-aware and say it as a joke (as the person you quoted did).

It's the people who say "it's just a flu, the death rate is 0.4%!!" and mean it sincerely who are complete and total fecking space cadetes.

It's not even here 12mts so you can't say it hangs around 12mts of the year, let's say it is actually a bio weapon with the intention of destabilizing europe and particularly the US, it kills the weakest of the herd and leaves the rest of us pretty much untouched. It's been pretty effective and has left China now possibly holding the keys to stop it. They've got the vaccine, they probably always had if it was lab created. Now we got to be friends with them if we want to protect the vunrable.
Trump would have been out of China's way as a result of this virus if it wasn't for the Democrats fielding Joe Hiden.

I know that's in the conspiracy realm, but it's plausible this won't be an issue in 12mts if it was a deliberate attack. I'm not buying the bat story.

ICU admissions growing by 50-60 everyday now in Spain, 110+ increase in last 48 hours, will likely hit 1000 in ICU tomorrow , hospitals will quickly be overwhelmed again if this upward trend continues

So it’s a benevolent bio weapon? Why would the make a weapon that’s only going to kill those that would die anyway? Would it not be better to plant a seed like other viruses do that the effects are much longer lasting? It is strange that they are moving heaven and earth to keep it out of their population. The heart studies are real and should be looked into before we decide to let it rip through the healthy population.

What happens if we are in the same situation next September and immunity has waned like other corona viruses?

It’s origins are irrelevant in a way. We need to understand it better before deciding on what level of damage we should sustain. If it is just a cold in a year great! If it keeps making people sick and people get reinfection plus people presenting with cardiac issues then we might want to consider trying to irradiate it. Gonna take an aweful long time to figure out.

RTÉ news with a feature about a 23 year old doctor who contracted the virus

Keeping the fear going absolutely ridiculous reporting.

Could we have a feature with some of the 99% of people who contracted the virus and recovered.

Same agenda pushed the whole time.

His Covid test was negative. Very irresponsible reporting and scare mongering. The schools are open and many are now terrified their children will get long term effects if they catch Covid. All of the people I have read claiming long term effects have either never had a test or had a negative test. I am sure there are outliers like with any virus but enough already.

The government have run and continue to run a very expensive media campaign designed to scare people into compliance. This juxtaposed against the campaign to promote Irish hotels, restaurants and have children returning to school. 50% of people I know are too scared to go out to eat and are scared their children will catch Covid in school. I am amazed no one had any foresight to the damage being done to the economy and mental health/anxiety levels of the population.

China also depends on our consumerism, wiping us out would be bad for them as well.
I'm not saying let it rip, we don't know enough, suppose you could look at Sweden they didn't go mad on restrictions but I think the government showed some trust and let them protect themselves if they so wished, which I think a lot of people did.

Next September, I can see rapid testing and one final European lockdown to eridacte it long before then.
