Why would I get cross? You admitted you ALTERED a quote. That's good enough for me. It's shows others what you are willing to do to push an agenda.
Wow I never thought of it like that. I sincerely regret my decision and completely retract my entire post. I am deeply ashamed of what I have done and I will never change Dwane 'The Rock' Johnson's name to "Dwayne 'The Rock' 'The Toothfairy' Johnson" henceforward.

What is it with the site today - it seems to have become over-run with Covid deniers, it's not something I am seeing anywhere else?

That post does not deny the existence of Covid but it suggests other aspects of life need to be considered. Drop the emotive stuff it is unnecessary and serves no purpose.

    General Election during a pandemic?

That would be a brave thing to do.

After the one in February anyway, when they should've been addressing this then, as it happens it was about a few weeks later they started making their plans for the pandemic.

If you don't like the Rocks quote that he and his family is 'stronger and healthier' I suggest you contact him. I only repeated what the article stated. I know a positive such as the Rocks is prehaps not welcome. Would you prefer if his family was still suffering maybe a limb loss here and there?

Technically they could be stronger and healthier as they now have some immunity to covid 19 which is a good thing.

But agreed, positive stories are not welcome by some.

Christ more guidelines, pubs/restaurant's have to keep a record of substantial meals for 28days, no more than 6 people from 3 houses at the one table.
It's getting more draconian by the day.

This will all be in record anyway and easily collated using the PoS system that the till runs off. Restaurants do keep financial books, so this isn't anything new for them.

Gerry Killeen and Thomas Ryan keep coming out with claims that we should be following Scotland's zero Covid strategy.

Scotland R0 almost identical to us yet I have not seen any journalist call them out on it.

We are way overreacting, were the only county in the world to mandate and deny people an education if they won't wear a mask. Some countries have mandated them in lockdown areas but not on a whole country basis.
The more stupid rules are forced the more people will get fed up.

American is looking at prosecuting the idiots that moved around health care staff and patients that resulted in unnecessary deaths. Our health services are blaming us the ordinary citizens when it's their fault we made such a mess of it.

Nobody is denying it exists, it's the nanny/police state illogical policys people are sick of.

Do you have a source for this claim that Ireland is the only country in which children have to wear masks in school?

Remember in many countries education is a state \ province responsibility not a national one so it's not valid to compare countries v federal.

It’s very likey that this doctor in fact did have Covid. Other viruses can produce the same after effects, however given he worked in CUH during the initial outbreak, had loss of smell and taste and the subsequent effects, the likelihood of something else causing his issues are very low. He ha however now fully recovered.

My take from this however is, given he had an unusual symptom and worked in healthcare, even if loss of smell wasn’t specifically called out at the time, he should have been tested.

Loss of smell is also a symptom of the seasonal flu for some as many will tell you. Any illness that affects the respiratory system can cause this symptom.

I'm really enjoying this angle of debate and loathe to drop it because I'm unsure if good satire or incredibly poor windup.

I dunno if it's just because I'm in top form today but I also find this a grim amusement.

I wrongly presumed that employers would be given oversight to protect staff who could have been exposed in the event of an outbreak in workplaces... They weren't even being given advance warning that contact tracers would be in touch with relevant staff up to now.

Anyone going into an unsafe workplace right now, you have my deepest sympathies and I hope that you're allowed every means to protect yourself. Clearly the systems aren't in place to protect workers at all.

The loss of smell that can accompany coronavirus is unique and different from that experienced by someone with a bad cold or flu, say European researchers who have studied the experiences of patients.

When Covid-19 patients have smell loss it tends to be sudden and severe.

And they usually don't have a blocked, stuffy or runny nose - most people with coronavirus can still breathe freely.

Another thing that sets them apart is their "true" loss of taste.

It's not that their taste is somewhat impaired because their sense of smell is out of action, say the researchers in the journal Rhinology. Coronavirus patients with loss of taste really cannot tell the difference between bitter or sweet.

Experts suspect this is because the pandemic virus affects the nerve cells directly involved with smell and taste sensation.

Not getting into mask debate with the biggest pro masker here when you deny what real world evidence there is in relation to them. The real world is not a labatory environment.
I've already provided that evidence plenty of times. Masks go on cases go up. No country has a nationwide mask mandate and none enforce it by denying an education or threatening it's citizens with 6mts jail.

They should consider that here too. But of course no-one will lose their jobs and they'll be lauded by the media and likely given a promotion.

You made a claim about schools and masks in education settings being unique to Ireland.
You were asked for source of your claim.
    No such source is forthcoming.
Should I take it by this response you can't stand over your earlier comments?

But are many principals willing to enforce that rule to the letter? It's possible that some pupils who have no known underlying health problem will have a difficulty with breathing if obliged to wear masks.

If a pupil obliged to wear a mask says, "I can't breathe", I don't think a teacher can afford to take the risk of dismissing that.

A total of 602,795 people in Scotland have been tested. Of these people: 20,889 were positive

Am I the only person on the planet that has loss of smell with a bad flu?

It doesn't matter the type of loss of smell, loss of smell is loss of smell.

Because he lost his smell doesn't mean he had covid. Its certainly not a unique symptom to covid.

In fact, you can lose a sense of smell for several reasons. Michael Hutchence lost his sense of smell after banging his head.

There are numerous reasons for losing this sense.

Someone needs to be held responsible, who made that decision, Harris, NPHET, Reid? Somebody mad a huge mistake and we're reminded of it every day when they release the numbers.
Without all those deaths we wouldn't be living in this twilight zone.

That death actually occurred in June though. Just very late reporting it.

I could be wrong but was that not back dated from June?

Not that its OK or anything but in the context of recent deaths.
