People acting irresponsible are a threat to the country. I think a great idea would be to fine them and use the money to lower the nation debt. Makes sense to me.

If you're elderly or have underlying health problems be careful and stay at home if you want to. No hideous masks, no being afraid to shake hands or hug each other. No social isolation. But impossible with the Irish media.

Herd Immunity then. Didnt work out so well for the Swedes..

You know as well as everyone else as its been explained time and time again what a suspected case is.

Its ANY paitent awaiting a swab result regardless of symptoms. Anyone going into ICU is tested. You could have been in a car crash and need ICU, covid test, until it returns from the lab negative, for the HSE your a suspected case.

So the fact that de gascun is saying we need to maintain measures as the hospitals are at 96% is not legitimate. If it was genuine we should have had a lockdown last year before flu season.

Going with the dramatic effect by including suspected cases?

Yeah, the amount of suspected cases rises but the cases are static, if it went back a few days the numbers are the same.

The 15 suspected cases today in ICU aren't even the same people as yesterday. The number is irrelevant.
I got jumped on for posting 'misleading' statistics before. If there's a 'standard' then people should follow it.

Would they be putting much people with covid into ICU now? I know at the beginning, they were putting people onto ventilators but ventilators doesn't seem to be the answer anymore.

So, your suggesting suicides are being increased by COVID restrictions while not having a clue what the actual numbers are for any year?

I do know the numbers, my suggestion was for you to look at the post from Arghus I linked. Although I see you decided not to bother, although the figures are very easily found. I even linked a newspaper article that gave the national figure for 2019. I know the numbers for certain years as I lost friends to it. To suggest there will be no suicides linked to the present crisis is naive in the extreme.

How do you know, I would love to know how you have access to hospital records.

I post the numbers I don't give comment on what I think is happening. As you say I am numbers person and I just post the numbers.

Is there a reason they call all those awaiting Covid results “suspected cases”?
Surely they should only be called that if there’s a high probability they have Covid, based on the symptoms they’re presenting with and not just those awaiting routine Covid results.

It’s a very misleading term to use

suppose for the HSE its just better that when they collect the data its how many outstanding swabs do you have, each hosptial reports x number and thats your suspected cases until the swab comes back

Judging by the hop on to spook theres not a poster here who doent already know what suspected means
    .
Quit the hysteria lads, nobodies hyper-ventilating cause of suspected cases.

We're not all wilting flowers afraid of a few facts from the HSE.

I really think people should take a break from RTE every so often in the interests of their mental health and wellbeing.

So be different from most of the world you mean, yeah that would work out dandy.

How's that working out? Trashed economies, small businesses destroyed, a dystopian mask society, police states, human beings terrified of one another, the horrifying elbow bump, zero joy in life for most people, constant moving of the goalposts, and now health passports and the unbelievable possibility of a mandatory vaccine.
