There is a Public Meeting tomorrow night (28th February), in the Clonsilla Inn about the proposed Lidl development in Clonsilla (near Castlefield / Mount Symon / Portersgate)

Fingal CoCo have requested further information on a number of things;

1) Bulky design of the building, I think they want something similar to the Castleknock branch of Lidl.

2) A revised and updated traffic/transport plan.

3) More planting things, less hard landscaping.

That's it really, the managers orders are 24 pages long in total to say that.

FW19A/0009 is the application number if you're looking for it.

It looks like work is under way on the Lidl. Does anybody have any idea on the project timescale?

Not sure but they have a tendency to fly up fairly quickly. As it's a greenfield site, it may take longer but I wouldn't be surprised if it was open before the end of the year. I'd say it will have less logistical constraints than the one recently built in Castleknock so should be a quicker build.

3 month build for a greenfield site. They are basically like IKEA. Flat packed and ready to go

Agreed, surprised how close it is to the Clonsilla Road also given it's a decent sized site. The brick work on the first floor facing the main road is dog rough, are they going to re-point that? What's the finished surface supposed to be for the block work on the ground floor or any artist impressions of the finished view submitting with the planning?

Not the case in Lidl Castleknock, where Lo-Cal are in situ.

I'll be honest, Pat. My only experience of Lo-cal was in the one when at Phoenix Paul race course and it wasn't a good one. I should probably give them a second chance at some point.

I’m not rating Lo-Cal one way or the other.
Just making the point that it might not be the usual generic, hum drum, chain store coffee shop.

I believe the car park extends under the shop on the ground floor. The shop is then located above it on the first floor, the same as Castleknock.

113 spaces I think I read a while ago. Wonder if there's anywhere to lock bikes etc?

That seems more than sufficient car parking spaces. I don't think Aldi or Lidl generally command the same volumes of shoppers at any one time compared to the average Dunnes or Tesco nor are they designed to. Often they only have one or two staff at checkouts such is their streamlined efficiency!
