Typical. He doesn’t mean the local flower shop being closed. He’s referring to the limits on weddings sizes, the reduced capacities in cinemas/buses, the no spectators at sports, the 105 mins in a pub/restaurant, the closed pubs, the widespread misleading interpretation on oversees travel/quarantine upon return to Ireland, and on and on and on.

Stop being deliberately difficult and argue the point. Nobody could honestly think everything’s ‘open’ like they absolutely should be at this stage.

It's not only the restrictions, it's also how Government seeks to instill fear in its public advice. 2 examples straight from the latest HSE advice, why avoid crowded places and public transport when numbers indoors are limited, capacity on transport is limited and masks are mandatory?
    • avoid crowded places as much as possible - leave a location if social distancing becomes difficult
    • avoid public transport if possible - walk or cycle instead, if you can

The Kildare restrictions worked, and we (the country) dodged a bullet I think. Anyone I know from Kildare took this seriously. The contact tracers did a great job.

It's a model for the rest of the country to see us through to a vaccine.

In Leixlip very few people I met were taking it seriously

Who in the hell wants to go to a socially distanced gig anyway? They look awful.

For me, it would depend on the band. If it was someone I really wanted to see, I'd go anyway.

Gigs '24 - Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball (Gomez), The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Smashing Pumpkins/Weezer, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Electric Picnic, Pixies, Ride, Therapy?, Public Service Broadcasting, IDLES, And So I Watch You From Afar

Gigs '25 - Spiritualized, Supergrass, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Queens of the Stone Age, Electric Picnic, Vantastival, And So I Watch You From Afar

Ah you must have watched egghead on the news just there because there's no proof of that whatsoever.

It's hard to take YOU seriously with that comment. You're either deluded, living in a bubble or you made that up.

Probably people telling him they are keeping to the restrictions to avoid the moral judgement and the pain in the ear.

Know a few living in North Kildare. Completely ignored them and went into Meath for their eating and drinking and said the pubs along the border in Meath were full of Kildare heads.

And Galway friend met 5 from Kildare last week who travelled to Galway for a weekend on the tear

Yet again the number of deaths reported today has been, yes, you guessed it, zero.

In response to questions government officials were said to be "very concerned", using terms such as "explosive" and "rapid", and also seemed to take issue with people "giving out".

At this stage I have little doubt that certain people would welcome a few deaths as it would make it easier to justify their positions.

Sweden is the canary down the coal mine , why the hell would they involve themselves with the tokenism mask charade anyways. That’s for the mugs

In a month or two the stats will be undeniable if Sweden don't have a huge increase in deaths. The thoughts of these gangsters keeping us under the thumb coming into Christmas ....there will be uproar.

At the start of this, pandemic, a lot people were very concerned about wearing disposable gloves in shops etc. Some shops even provided them.

Now I don’t hear any talk at all about the wearing of these gloves. Has this phase simply disappeared?

In fairness they'll just make up a few more deaths tomorrow or the day after, they need to justify lockdowns and lads dancing on top of phone boxes.

I mean they've done it before to the tune of 600 deaths.

I know it’s off topic but I’m not going near the thread on masks (It’s a total echo chamber) , but has anyone noticed that as soon as the added restriction placed on our “free”citizens to wear masks in enclosed spaces occurred we shot up in infection numbers weeks later.

Could be to do with dirty masks in the wearers pockets infecting their cash, mobile phone , credit cards , purses , hands etc etc and then passing it on to other people via surfaces or exchange of money etc.

Same applied in Spain . Wear masks EVERYWHERE (even the beach for the love of Jesus !) and their infection numbers have gone sky rocketing to the moon.

It’s clear there’s a connection and I’d love to study the compulsory wearing dates in question a bit more but too busy

I reckon it’s all part of the government’s plan anyways

This was the plan all along.
It was indeed. Bill, what’s his face, Gates was on about it in February. Corpo are getting their way again, the wealth gap is only getting wider while no one is looking...

Last I recall it was decided that gloves added to the potential transmission.

It's hard to keep the justifications straight though as they seem to change to suit the political responses

You have a massive chip on your shoulder about people drinking. So many of your points involve snide remarks about drinking. An easy way to suss out your (lack of) credibility I have to say.

You are an arrogant ****ing arsehole who crows about putting people who don`t agree with your blinkered opinions " back in their box". ****ing pathetic.

no they change on the basis of the evidence, which itself changes as new information comes to light.

there was always going to be an economic cost along with other costs no matter what approach was taken, it was unavoidable.
our approach ultimately allowed for the main contributers to the economy to continue, let people out to do the basics, suppress the virus to a managable level, and ultimately allow us to reopen again.
if we just stayed open and left the virus run rampant, our health system would have likely collapsed, the economy would have likely collapsed as high cases would likely have meant a lot less people working while they recovered no doubt.

I wouldnt agree with letting it run rampant. Initially cautious was right approach and in hindsight it certainly is. I dont agree with much of the decision making after that... not many other countries do either...

Don’t remember any credible sources or govt people suggesting a vaccine was at all possible this year, doesn’t add up.

The clamour to find dark motives is odd, someone earlier suggesting we were 1 step away from fascism, we’re no longer ‘free’ because we have to wear masks occasionally? we’ve had Bill Gates mentioned too, really bizarre one that, perhaps there’s no dark force at work, perhaps they’re just a bit crap at governing (same as always) and having to wing it in unprecedented times is exacerbating the mistakes. We can all pick holes in the govt strategy, fish in a barrel stuff at times, particularly recently.

I’ll be accused of swallowing the media spin or drinking the kool aid, but I’ve given it a lot of thought and have yet to see any remotely plausible theory put forward that make sense of the “sinister motives” theory and what’s in it for “them”. Erosion of our civil liberties...and then what, down the mines in our “muzzles”? People shouting about financial ruin, yeah, of course, clearly, it’s not some oracle at Delphi prophecy, there will be a large bill for it all, I’ve seen plenty of recessions, too many over the decades, but life will continue, many of us will suffer, as we have before (unless you’re young enough not to have lived through a couple of recessions, [and many on here do seem very immature,] then lucky you!) but I don’t think there’s some global puppeteers rubbing their hands with glee, it just happened and they’re all bumbling their way through it, some better than others.

Can you pick any holes in this one for me ?

Please tell me you understand the implications this abomination of an idea will have on every citizen in Ireland for generations to come.
When you see something as blatant (and being endorsed by Luke O’Neill I’ll have you know) as this do you see why people would be asking questions as to exactly what in the hell is going on here.

Epstein's pedo island was a conspiracy theory too. Until it wasn't.
There is a little bit of segregation and discrimination planned with health passport ireland as far as I can see.
