I think the 9,340 is over 24 hours. I make it 15,102 tests in the last 48 hours, giving a positivity rate of 1.38%

Where are you getting the Saturday swabs? I thought the 9,340 was 48 hours, the same as the swabs? Swabs definitely are for a 48 hour period.

Saturdays total was 824,712, today’s is 839,814. Also, it states that the 9,340 was over the last 24 hours on the hub.

    Cheers.

I always thought it was a 48 hour total at weekend (I saw it said 24 hours, but figured they were too lazy to change it!)

I learned the hard way, I made a balls of the calculations last Monday for the same reasons.

Corona virus updates for Ireland Facebook page and one parent has already said they sent their kid into school on Thursday and Friday and they woke up sick today. They were fine for the past 6 months.

Even if they picked up a cold. Why can't parents keep their snotty, cold sicken kids at home and stop spreading things around. Bad enough with colds, but nobody wants the confusion with covid around as well. Schools are not a child minding service where you send in sick kids.

Feck. So 110 odd cases in the backlog awaiting announcement tomorrow. Be lucky to be under 200. Hopefully I am wrong.

Briefing is at 5pm this evening

Recently these briefings have become like matches at a tennis grand slams where they don't start before certain time. So not before 5pm then.

Is that NPHET one or government one?

She has absolutely no idea if the child got the cold in school . Children have had colds without ever been near a school.

Was there any day(s) last week where the cases on the day were higher than the positive tests? Any chance this is just slow reporting?

Indeed. And NPHET have advised parents not to keep kids at home due to a runny nose or occasional sneeze, which are not symptoms of Covid.

I am pretty sure we were all caught up by the end of the week. ACE would know better.

209 tests positive this weekend vs 215 last weekend. Seems to have stabilised alright.

As far as I know yes however there would still be ~60 left over at my best guess

You never go into work with a cold before? I have and also with a sore throat in the past if you don’t go in everytime you have minor ailment place would grind to a halt

Further to this, there was ~5000 more tests this weekend, and a lower positive swab number. A good sign.

Well NPHET have said we need to move away from that for adults. Children bit different as more prone to colds anyway. For adults probably best if people can work from home they do if under the weather. I think issue is could have covid without fever and think it's just a normal cold so is tricky coming into Autumn and winter and flu season.

Last seven days 807 cases from 57678 tests carried out

The previous seven days 732 cases from 52756 tests

75 extra cases from 4922 extra tests carried out

If only 55 cases today it will be a big drop from last Monday when we had 147 cases. 55 today would mean the lowest 7 day average since August 18th.

You'd swear we didn't have a pandemic with a virus that can cause very mild symptoms in some.

There's no going into work anymore with just a cold.

Just wondering if you had the previous 7 days total positive tests vs the previous 6 days total cases.
The difference should give a more accurate figure than just going by the last 48hrs.

Anyway, good to hear the K lockdown might be coming to an end.
