So what is the alternative?. Would you like everybody else to go back to work (except teachers), so you can sit on your arse forever and get paid for it?

Id prefer not to go into a work environment that was on a par with other work Places safety wise. But it is what it is.
But i won't put up with people saying covid is beaten when it's rising.
I'd also like to see an online teaching plan very soon .
    Comprehensive. Not fxxxx bespoke bull****.

Bespoke it has to be, when we've counties that are currently locked down and others who haven't had any cases at all recently the one size fits all approach won't be needed.

It has to be a risk based approach.

Covid 19 is yesterday's news. Facts are facts.

In light of the revelation earlier in the week that FG were no longer in government, I hope FF don't get all the credit for ridding the country of Covid.

Are you trying to imply something there? Please elaborate?

To be honest I don’t think bringing all the class back was a good idea. In my opinion if they halfed the class and one week on one week off would be better. So I see your point there.

I've worked many years in construction but I am now in education and I know well which one I'd prefer to be working at in this climate.

How is it better for children though?

What would the half be doing while not at school? We don't have the broadband infrastructure working in half the country, nor does everyone have spare laptops to hand six year olds for the week. Or do you intend to work them all through Christmas, easter and summer to make up the lost time? The continuity of learning is totally disrupted that way. Weird experiment?

Let's simply put the children's needs first. No need for their future to be thrown on the fire here because of handwringing.

My kids are back a week. No problems. They play with playmates in their pod only. They are back learning and being social. The school has 8 hours of professional cleaning per day when they leave. Everyone washes their hands a lot more.

When we all keep our heads and stop panicking, it's perfectly doable.

Construction. Purely on the basis that it is safer in relation to COVID. Job security etc. would be different.

But there is no question which is safer when it comes to the transmission of COVID.

Probably better for the first month or two to see how it goes. What we all do not want is the schools shutting down again

dont forget teachers are paid to teach (or you would like to call it a free childminding service). I pay my taxes so my children can be educated so maybe you should start doing your job and stop complaining.
If you think that's where your taxes are going, then you should probably start complaining.

I reckon we'll be back to online classes again by mid October. The teachers unions will pull the plug at the first opportunity.

In fact I think the teachers will spend the next 4-6 weeks getting the kids prepared for returning to online classes and assessments.

I prefer teaching, it is easier on the body. I have a permanent job now so good job security and I am reluctant to leave it. I was just saying construction is definitely safer when it comes to covid. Kind of a no brainer really.

Maybe in secondary but I don't see primary going back online in any large scale, unless the schools are riddled with Covid. Even then it will be very much class by class, school by school basis. They'll be kept open come hell or high water.

And you'd prefer they didn't prepare them for something that odds are stacked with?

    Absolutely baffling...........

We're preparing the teachers and students for this. I think you're 100% correct. 4-6 weeks it will be put of control and the plug will indeed be pulled. Hopefully we could return in the new year with a proper plan then.
