Of course there are but as a people, especially in our early years, we tend to spend our social time in the pub. You don't see that near as much in other European countries.

Not a confirmed case but flew from one non green list country, to another non green list country before making their way to meet with family here. The person did not quarantine.

The death rate is not known. Could be a long time yet before we have a good estimate of that. With so many asymptomatic cases it is very difficult to assess.

59,000 estimated by mid-July - up to 3.5 times more cases in Dublin than initially reported. You can read the report here. It makes a good bit of sense whereas now we're catching a much higher percentage of cases most likely.

It's difficult yes but of course by now mountains of research available from across the world that certainly give strong indications of what ballpark it lies within. Anyway as I said this is what 1200 scientisits agreed on,it's the closest there is to a definitive IFR so it's ridicukous to have posters saying 'I think it's 0.2%' every.single.day as if there is any validity or justification for their belief when they're either trolling or too lazy and ignorant to look up any research about the subject

No, it’s not difficult. It’s impossible. The overwhelming number of asymptomatic cases means we’ll never know the true IFR.

I'm not disputing that we under-reported. I'm saying that based on excess deaths of 850 so far, a 0.65% fatality rate would mean we've had 130k cases. Meaning that we missed 100k of them, and about 1 in 35 people in the country have had it. I'm not saying that's impossible - just that that's what a fatality rate of 0.65%, which people seem to be backing, would suggest.
