Pushing everything to NPHET and department of health....she is brutal....series of sound bites over and over

    This interviewer is useless.

A show like this needs someone like Sarah Mcinerney

Norma Foley being allowed free reign on Prime Time, just describing these terrible conditions school staff are facing with impunity and no contention from the host. So many questions and issues arising and she has been clearly in hiding taking PR courses from Mícheál about how to talk down to people who call her out on any of her absolute bullsh!t.

I'm no fan of the way they've gone about the schools re-opening, but I can't see a whole lot wrong with stating public health officials determine what happens in each case?
The point is she should be working with public health etc and know what the procedures are...she had no clue a series of very simple questions

I suspect she knows alright but also knows she could get away with stating it's a public health issue

Would it not be helpful to parents watching to know what they are maybe?
It's not the third secret of fatima!
Could she not share the information with the class?

Agreed, as a parent I want to know these details too, but for politicians and officials it's all about arse covering now, and saying as little as possible and trying not to saying something that will come back to haunt you when the **** (most likely) hits the fan, is part of that. The interviewer let us down really

What questions would everyone like to have seen asked in the interview with Norma?

    I would like

    1. A clear answer on the number of students or teachers allowed meet up. We are apparently not allowed more than 6 in our houses, 50 in the "real" world but somehow staff meetings of 50+ staff or assemblies of 100+ students may be allowed? Mental
    2. An explanation as to the U-turn on just outright telling students all information on the LC they promised teachers they wouldn't release. We did the grades in good faith as to the procedures they put in place and they just threw them out the window
    3. A straight answer on how many schools in the country currently cannot meet the requirement for 1m. I know of at least one.
    4. A proper procedure as to EXACTLY what the procedure is when there is a diagnosed case. Particularly at second level where bubbles could be 150 students and large groups of staff

    Thats just to get started

Just catching up on Prime Time, watching the tour of the school at the start of the show. I'm just wondering if other teachers have been able to implement the type of distancing shown in the clip, where pretty much all of the children are 1m from each other? It would be a lot less stressful if this were possible, I'm just wondering if many have managed this?

The tables were pushed against the wall with a chair wedged between the wall and the table.... not sufficient space in which they could sit.... either the table is pushed away from the wall meaning less space between rows or one child sits at the outside and the other moves their seat to behind the desk. They are no longer a meter apart once seated....

I arranged our school classrooms. There is less than 1m shoulder to shoulder in our rooms, probably around 80cm to 70cm in reality. The further st I could get the teacher away was around 1.3m approx. This is in the standard size rooms in these new build schools (7mx7m), all furniture removed, etc.

The clip shown in the primary school where they have an rea where the teacher is 2m away from students is only achievable in about 3 of our 40 odd classrooms.

We're packing more students into the overflow than what's allowed anyway so we just have to plough on I suppose...

I know what you mean, well noted! I didn't notice that myself, feel like I have to watch it again :pac:

If you rewatch the clip...some of the chairs where literally wedged against the wall....you couldn't get a child in to the seat??
