Why does nearly every post of yours drip with immature condescension. Even if you are right or have a point, can you not make it maturely without that nonsense?

To be fair to Blondini, the condescension has arisen from having to articulate the same points repeatedly to new reregs for over a month. I'm sure some of the people liking your question recognise themselves in that statement. You only have to look at the join dates, see that they have posted specifically to one thread, this one, and realise that this thread long jumped the shark.

The fact that I offered myself up to answer and queries from a bom point of view or middle management and didn't get one dm, rather guys going on about marquees and others arguing vehemently against masks until she disappeared, and then reappeared....

Schools will reopen. Teachers and schools have voiced their concerns through all channels available. We hope this will not lead to massive infections but we have our doubts. We believe the back to school guidelines completely go against hse guidelines for every other workplace in the country, and the attempt to hide away a minister for education at this stage is deplorable.

The DES has proven itself to be inept to the wider public, not just the teaching communities. The teaching Council has been silent, and the inspectorate has said zilch, nothing, nada.

Looking forward to all of us doing our best, students, parents, teachers alike, and that when the sht hits the fan, during cold season in November in particular, that we work in a spirit of cooperation and not allow the govt to spin this as a job well done. You can already see people pining for the halcyon days of Harris and Varadkar, who left nursing homes to rot and who allowed thousands to fly in for horse racing and rugby.

See you on the other side.

This only enables them to act "better to apologise than seek permission way".

The standard attitude of any dangerous cowboy.

Then lobby the students Union and parents Union. Only with all 3 saying no will any movement take traction. You only have to look at the comments under the video of the teacher having a go at mm to realise parents and students don't seem to have a unified opposition to the plans. So there is no point in teaching unions going on a solo run for no benefit to any improvement of standards. The parents council in particular seems extremely silent.

Why are you so obsessed with strike action? Serious question. There are so many actions up to strike action that can (and some are) being taken. It's weird how much you are pushing an agenda that there is no appetite for.

I don't care how, but this reopening plan has to be rejected and given a proper rethink and done right the first time the doors open.

You are all failing to do the right thing out of fear of "backlash" and the collective image of teachers.

I'm not failing to do anything. I've gone through the guidelines and highlighted all the problems I see with it. I've sent weekly emails outlining issues and concerns to my union, local TDs, Minister for Ed, Taoiseach, 3 x education correspondants and my school principal. I've also been in school to sort out my classroom and highlighted the issues with each class and spacing to the principal.

    What have you done?

If someone serves you a **** sandwich you have to choice to bite into it or not.

Anyway, obviously nothing is going to happen.

Best of luck and at least wear masks for your protection.

Pretty much stereotypical school teacher attitude. You could actually picture that poster taking great pleasure in haughtily demeaning some of the less capable students in their class. Not pleasant but everyone shows you who they are.

Aine Brady will have to get her face on PrimeTime either this week or next.

    "Should"

Anyway I'm done here, can bring a horse to water but you can't make them drink.

You have all conceded your right to complain when the inevitable happens.

What motivation have you to encourage teachers to strike when you aren't a teacher or parent, or student I assume?

    Are you a politician ;)

Motivated not to **** up all the hard effort that everybody did during lockdown.

It isn't complicated. I detest incompetence.

Would you think you would get much support from the public if you strike, considering the current climate

Oh you can, we're being encouraged to in my school. I'm just saying we are required to where distancing isn't possible.

None. And I wouldn't vote for a strike myself. Strike is the final final final action. The govt has not even engaged with us at step 2,3,4 so there are those options, just they, like a lot of the public, are only now coming around to the fact that writing pods and bubbles doesn't magic safety out of nowhere.

So besides urging strike action on an anonymous forum what have you done in practical terms to try ensure safer reopening of schools?

No. As several teachers have stated we wouldn't expect a strike to be supoorted and don't think it is a good idea.

So option A is go back and do your job. Option B is to strike and not get paid. I do not believe there is an option C as many teachers would like. The general public will not accept a rerun of the last 6 months.

They don't need to strike. All they need is a visit to the local doctor and a sick note. Stress, bad back, depression etc...

No, option b is staggered return times, increased provision of teachers, an altering to the school day. Many many options. If you want detail, go back through the thread. If you wish to derail the thread further, please continue with striking nonsense, teachers pay, holidays, whinging etc.

    Nothing

I'm not a teacher and i reject **** sandwiches when people try to serve them to me. I just can't understand you all.

To continue your analogy, we are not chomping down on the sandwich, we are at the moment still pointing out to the manager that he has served us the wrong food. We are still hungry, we still want food, and are continuing to communicate without making a scene, yet.

your proposal is akin to forcing everyone out of the restaurant regardless if they were served correctly or not, upsetting many customers, some of whom actually want the **** sandwich as they just want the bread anyway.

This thread should be renamed ‘how can teachers get out of going back in September’

I can't see how on earth you reached that conclusion and I'm just a concerned parent. Very unfair comment. It's the opposite from all posting here anyway.
