You think I'm making up deaths? I obviously got it from journalists who posted it all over twitter

If ACE disappears from this thread, it is pretty much over! He keeps this place going, surprised no outlet has tried to sign him or her up yet tbh.

He knows more than most journos out there at the moment.

:D:D I was trying to be kind to our current journos who have taken to twitter recently to defend themselves...

in reality....as much as i respect their effort....they are fairly awful... bar fergal bowers who is good... the rest are quite terrible....but this is not a personal attack etc...

So ACE and Fergal Bowers are my two sources at the moment.

TBH in my book, anyone who posts without a source is less credible.

You might gain some time (if that's important to you) by just reposting the tweets/links.

And also when that person demands links to sources of info the others post. Has to work both ways.

It is getting weird in here now.... i actually dont even understand the issue with ACE

To me any personal opinion of his has seemed conservative, so to see him being attacked by ppl who paint him as a COVID denier etc, is bizarre!

I originally would have argued against him as being too negative and conservative....

I guess this thread is illustrative of how much COVID has fcked ppl up

    Jesus, get over yourself.
I certainly don't subscribe to some posters' belief that ACE has any more insight than anyone else, but his copy and pasting the info saves a lot of people the effort of looking stuff up themselves. You don't need to take what data he posts as gospel, or trust his analysis any more than you would that of any of the other posters, but if there's a particular issue with some data source, he's always been pretty good about providing links. He is, in any case, under no obligation to anyone to follow a particular format for his posts. Eesh.

The guy is literally just copying and pasting stuff from another site.

He seems to have been elevated to demi God status on here by his 'merry band' of followers.

    Mad carry on altogether.
I can’t understand why people are saying he’s just copying and pasting stuff. He’s not a medical or investigative journalist. What do you expect him to post? What else can he post besides stats, facts and figures? I’m very grateful for all he contributes, as it means I don’t have to be looking at various sites to get the same news I get here. He’s also very obliging if anyone asks him for a breakdown of something, the previous week’s figures, etc

    This witch-hunt is tiresome.

Lockdown from monday on for the whole country, got a text from my aunt who's a very senior civil servant working in kildare street, be interesting to see if theres any truth in it come monday or if she's taking the piss out of me

Bullshít. Funny though, reading that has brought me back to a very different time; a time where we were all so unsure of what was going to happen, a time of fear. Seems so long ago now. Thanks you for reminding me of how far i’ve come myself in this Covid emotional rollercoaster.

Your post is well structured and diplomatic but it loses any credibility when you mention 'suspected cases'

Unfortunately, I can't make a determination of the language that the relevant professionals are using in their daily report. it's their phrase that I was using, as that's what they reported.
Every single person in hospital is tested for COVID, until their result comes back clear they are a 'suspected case'

That may well be the case, the reason I posted was to try, and it would appear fail, to debunk the poster who was trying to downplay the numbers actually in hospital at present, by reminding people that the numbers are significantly higher than just the few who are actually definitely positive. I would venture to suggest that the problem is that there are a significant number of tests that are reported on a daily basis as being indeterminate.

The fact that someone tests negative is one thing, do the hospital test them every day to see if their status has changed, there are a lot of things that we are not seeing in the reports from the media, and the media seems to be doing everything they can to make the Covid scenario look as bad as they can, or worse, probably because they all are desperate for circulation or clicks, to generate as much revenue through advertising as possible.
If you have followed these threads and numbers in recent months you will see the number of confirmed hospital cases has remained steady, the number of 'suspected' has decreased.....the use of the world suspected it questionable at best..

This is a dangerous disease, but let us not lose sight of reality....there are much bigger concerns for our society than COVID19..... cancer, mental health... the crazy figure on waiting lists...

We need a shake up and fast....we cannot keep living in this COVID19 daze for much longer or we will lose sight of much bigger problems and their solutions.

On that, we can agree, the reality is that I cannot cope with reading every post in every Covid thread without putting my own mental stability at risk, particulary when I look at some of the more absurd posts that are regularly repeated by the denyers and the people desperate to get to the pub regardless of the consequences, and it's not just on the medical side of things that we're in trouble, if I look at it coldly, the entire structure of many democracies is in danger of being toppled, and massive debts will only be one of the prongs on which it finds itself impaled, I can't remember a time in the last while where there are so many different dissentions being expressed, and the biggest worry I have is that the inability of the political system to be meaningful and to show any real statemanship is becoming increasingly concerning. Even more worrying is that there is no viable alternative that I can see, but that's probably not a subject for this thread.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

We have seen #covid19 case numbers rising across the country this week. We must do all we can to avoid a return to where we were in March & April. Social distancing applies to all age groups - wherever you are this weekend please keep your distance. #holdfirm

They're still going on about social distancing. You can be well away from someone and never having to meet an infected person and still get infected with airborne transmission. The virus leaves the mouth and nose. They need to up their game on masks.

The hospital figures have been remarkably stable over the past 2 weeks.
I know it's the young and less vulnerable getting infected etc... so that shouldn't be a surprise.

But there's 2 lessons to be learnt. Israel opened up after their peak and pretty much went back to normal life and now their second peak has 5x the cases and 2x their deaths (Australia is following a similar pattern). Spain opened slowly and their cases are rising, but their hospital and ICU admissions are also rising quickly.

My only worry is people get complacent and it will eventually spread into vulnerable groups and then we start to see more admissions and more deaths.
You can't keep covid out of hospitals and nursing homes indefinitely, the lower the community cases, they less risk they face.
