Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Battle of Carlingford yesterday, it was a real treat to finally get to swim/race/gather again. There was a strong tide in our favour, so times were super quick all round. My watch is set to buzz every 500m and I checked times in disbelief...7:30, 7:30, 7:10, 6:xx!! Water was smooth and quite warm. I chose an older wetsuit which has been ripping lately, and despite my dental floss sewing skills it ripped again (and came to pieces when I stripped at the end!)
    Anyway, it was a real ding dong as swimmers were tiring throughout, others were going strong. I started to hurt around the 5k mark and slowed generally over the last km, but happy with the time (1:55 for 7.6k which tells the tale of the current!) and happy too with the whole experience.
    Well ran race from Infinity and a beautiful part of the world.

    Sat 10.5k charity swim 2:56

    Conditions were perfect (Wexford, Donaghamore beach to Ballymoney), sun was shining, beautiful flat sea, current behind us... it was a delight to be swimming out there. I was going well until the last quarter when the arms started getting tired. Just kept ticking off each 500m and waited for the others at 9k (they were skins, I chickened out and wore a suit). Great experience to tick that 10k box (and a hell of a lot more enjoyable than the one time I bounced 10k in a pool lane!)

    Too time consuming, and no events left this year. Have to come over from Oranmore, so if I want to do 2k, I'm looking at the guts of 2 hours round trip.
    I've a 10month at home, so disappearing for that long, when I'm not training for anything isn't really fair, and it's too dark to go in the evenings now.
    Will do my long distance swims in the pool, but will try to get into the sea at least once a week, just for a dip

    Staying in the water in Renville during the lockdown.
    Couldn't believe how many people were there swimming on Sunday morning. Incredible to see in November.
    Plan was just to get in twice a week for a dip in skins. Never considered doing any distance swimming at this time of year, but with the crowd there, and distance buoys along the coast it was very easy and enjoyable to do. Aim to keep it up as long as I can for the Winter.

    I do miss Blackrock though.

    Blackrock is also crazy at the moment with all the students doing the November charity swim. Its like a summer's day most days.
