I don't know how people are so optimistic, the testers seem to be two weeks behind, expect this number to double in the next 2 weeks. The only positive I see is that is looks to be only factories at the moment but what's going to happen when we have 1000s of students all packed together? It's mayhem

How are they two weeks behind? These clusters came to light 2 weeks ago and it takes roughly 2-14 days to get symptoms if any. If anything they’ve done well in closing it down to these places and mass testing

Those factories will certainly test the herd immunity theory in a couple of weeks.

Boycott Brady Family Ham, absolute disgrace. The business community of Kildare should sue them for every cent lost in the next 2 weeks. What a **** show.

FFGreens knew about it weeks ago and did nothing, absolutely nothing.

Because there were meat factory outbreaks in those counties too. One company, Kildare Chilling, accounts for 70 of today's cases according to RTE.

Meat factory outbreak in Laois? Or do you mean people in Laois working in them meat factories?

If so I know Kildare Chilling have been testing since last Saturday. So surely all the results are back by now. Couldn't say how many of those effect people in Laois but I'd say minimal.

think they may need to give up this pipedream about schools going back.

It will spread like wildfire for however long they stay open.

Doing stuff outdoors is key. Remember the beaches being packed caused no spread.

Its fine, shur theyre only clusters, just a ripple.

Though a ripple can have a large diameter

It's madness how pubs are not allowed to open but meat plants are a covid danger zone and they are allowed to open up again in a few more days. I hope the vintners take the government to task about this. Where is the sense in any of this? How can the government zone in on one work section and close them down but not the other?

Wouldn’t even surprise me if they were fLying them in from some Eastern European country like keelings without doing the 14 day quarantine.

Exactly, 'Hey Uri can I stay in yours in Dublin I need to work but they're locking down'

'I don't Palak have you got the virus man?'

'No Uri I promise, I'm strong, not sick'

    'OK sure bro'

You won't be buying most of the cold meat on shelves so. Those factories do more than just Bradys and Carrolls.

Here's a list of all approved plants in Ireland, lots of own brand stuff being done at the affected plants too from some stuff I have looked at in my fridge. The IE XXXXX EU data on them will tell you the factory...

Yes. Most days you can smell it before you see it. The trucks are backed up to the wall with the doors open to air them. Stinks to high heaven on a hot day.

Helsinki airport (in Finland) tries out "voluntary" Covid-19 testing for incoming passengers. They asked all passengers on a flight from Bucharest, Romania to take a Covid test at the airport, free of charge.

There were over 100 passengers on the flight. 60 of them agreed to take the test, the rest of them declined.

I presume the same staff will be equally reticent to accept the wages into their bank accounts then?

Laois had only 5 cases the last two days if cases remain that low they should be taken out of lockdown.

Incidence seems to be the main indicator at the moment:

“As outlined by the Acting Chief Medical Officer at the press conference last night, the 14-day incidence per 100,000 population in Kildare, Laois and Offaly is worryingly high.

“While the national incidence stands at 16.3 per 100,000, in Kildare it stands at 130.3, in Laois it is 69.7 and in Offaly it is 89.8."
