Replace office with school in that sentence and read again.
Or replace office with with Pub.
You start to see a pattern and not a good one.

Well spotted, not sure why workers living in direct provision were not previously covered by covid illness benefit payment, but good that there seems to have been a swift response to the evolving situation in meat and food production plants.

If our government doesn't want the country to go back to Phase 2 then how is letting US tourists visit here helpful to our economy?

Why will our government not ban flights from the US? Is it fear of antagonising the Donald?

Really can't see this happening, I think the population would literally go mad if another lockdown of this type was enforced so soon after the first.I couldn't take it. We will likely be at 100 daily cases in a fortnight , there will be nationwide non compliance. The government can and need to find other ways around suppressing exponential growth without another lockdown.

Exactly, you see these idiots running up to people without masks screaming at them (taking off their mask to do so ....) slobbering and spitting about 100000000000000000000 individual covid viruses (if they have it....)

Some people are f*cking loving this sh*t, it finally gives their lives some importance, have you seen the COVID 19 COMPLIANCE OFFICER high vis vest ?

Imagine the dangerous dangerous little Hitler that would want to have that job ?

Type of **** that failed at the police exams, failed at being a bouncer ... and until now was working in Donaghmede shopping center as a bored security guard.

Nice rant but is still meaningless.

Not to mention the economic carnage. I doubt more rounds of €350 per week for up to a million workers plus everything else has been seriously budgeted for and factored in.
May see local limitations but not like end March onwards. The economy just can’t take it

It’s politics rather than financial... if you turned around and banned people from the US traveling here, you’d risk the wrath of Donald, US multinationals as well as others.

It all depends on who is affected by the growth. Our elderly and vulnerable are doing an excellent job of protecting themselves. A pity that those dependent in the nursing/care homes couldn't have had the same protection.

Complacency is creeping in now, and TBH I would have been out of there in a flash. Sorry.

He makes a point about not wearing masks in restaurants. How do you suggest eating and drinking with one on?

Do you normally go to restaurants with a mask and eat and drink with it on? Or, do you just go, wear a mask and eat and drink nothing?

    I'm curious...

Elderly people are doing great with personal responsibility alright- which goes to show you can have all the inane nannying and rules in the world but at the end of the day it’s personal actions that matter with personal health

The manager also did say if there is any concern of coming back there is feck all they can do about it and stay at home cause I did mention I live with someone who is very high risk and they don’t want having to deal with me bringing the virus home if was to catch it at work.

I suppose you can talk to your employer about your concerns if they ask for you to come back they should be understanding.

I find the people that are the least realistic go that way. I have seen it with a couple of aquaintances.

Deniers about the whole thing at the start "Its only a flu" and absolutely hysterical about mask wearing today.

If you face up at whats coming and PREPARE mentally, no such hysteria.

Depends and you would hope employers would be pragmatic if the work can be done from home but I have heard a few HR experts on radio talk about this and it appears employers are perfectly entitled to instruct you to work from the office if that’s what your contract states.
I’d be wary of “causing trouble” if it were me as you could be easily marking your own cards in these kinds of scenarios. You’ll get the opposite with plenty of workers “dying to get back” and making a virtue of it to employers

Health of the nation should trump all rights of everyone
If Germany can do it then why can't we?
We haven't seen any significant issue with people arriving here but is it just a matter of time
The meat factories have shown how easy it is to spread - should spur the government to actually do something now

Any company worth their salt with employees who can work remotely are saying "we are encouraging you not to come back " or "only come back if you feel comfortable"

Not only that but any employer has a duty of care to the safety of it's employees
If any company forces it's employees to return to the office when there is no need and as a result an employee catches it (from the office) and dies then they could be in a lot of trouble. Google have implemented a WFH til next year regardless what happens in the near future

Didn't think I'd use random song that came on to make my point.
Could be a new advert for zerocovid.
As much as I don't like a lobby for alcohol if it helps get zero covid as a policy
    then so be it.

The child drinks milk nine times a day.

You can keep you wine and keep your tea!
My curse on him that brings me coffee!
I'll drink porter, if I may.
It makes me feel content and happy.
Porter quaffed down with a laugh.

Might be a case where you need to try and educate them.

Suggest a ‘trial’ over say a three week period...

    Monday :

If you work 9-5 as an example, have your day scheduled with checkpoints ...

9.00 Clock in / check and respond to email

9.25 AM Team meeting - via webinar

9.45 begin Logistics Report for previous week

10.30 Logistic Report filed on Sharepoint

    10.30 Break

    —————

    10.45 email

    11.00 Transport conference call

11.45 financial report ( previous week)

    13.00 Lunch
    ————

14.00 pm team meeting - webinar

    14.20 customer reviews

    15.00 maintence reports

    15.40 break

    15.55 email

    16.05 end of day report

    16.30 end of day webinar

    16.50 email / AOB

17.00 electronic sign out / clock out

When each individual task is completed, the employee just uses software on share point to confirm done, time stamped and with comments etc. so management and or colleagues can see remotely what exactly is complete and when.

Those that died mostly old people probably got infected weeks ago due to the lag effect, maybe we should revisit your post in a 2-3 weeks and see if you spoke too soon.

I’d have loved if somebody when this was all kicking off, in government said... “you know what, let’s invest 30 million, set up a state PPE manufacturing company in some disused industrial unit.... manufacturing masks, hazsuits, sanitizer etc... the priority of distribution is...

    Food plants / food manufacturing

They'll have to conduct investigations into these meat factories. In one sense it's the perfect guinea pig for measuring spread, as I assume workers stand in one spot all the time mostly.

Noisy enviroment, lots of shouting etc also possible cold ventilation blower particles around.

Who knows but seems meat processing plants are very susceptible in other parts of the world too.
