    Worrying case figures there

Every day is a new worry. Worry worry worry. Christ I’m not the most easy going person but there is fcuk all point getting into a daily frenzy over these figures.
It’s become a daily ritual on social media now (especially with arsehole politicians feeding into the frenzy). Extremely unhealthy for people to be obsessing over them

And so what are you saying? They could be from this second or yesterday or a month ago. They still died from corona.

What it means is that they contracted the virus in April or earlier so it is not an indication of measures in the last 3 months not having an impact.

Aye, it's a scandal that slaughterhouses have been proven clusters but have not been closed. Sure it's just cheap immigrant labour, be grand.

    Should we all go vegetarian?

It’s obviously not relevant to the case load now though

That doesn't matter, they were still reported today.. someone's family and loved ones.. the cases of deaths are never for that exact day!!!

It does matter actually. Reported today and actually occurring today are different things. Yes they are for that mostly and the ones that aren't are highlighted as when they occurred.

The way they are reporting the deaths is an absolute sham.

I’m not one to speculate but a friend was a care assistant in a home and before Covid had mentioned the conditions being tough in her nursing home unless HIQA were due in on a pre announced inspection.Where they would budget For more staff and external resources that week .

Private Nursing homes are purely for profit only, run by business people on as tight a budget as possible. It would be the last place I would send a relative of mine.

They have high staff turnover for a reason

wonder is there anything they can specifically attribute this to? if pubs, may want to rethink. if workplace, the same. hopefully they have this data.

Exactly that's how the thinking needs to be. All this focus on not reopening the pubs etc. The narrative needs to be why we are failing in phase 3 long before the conversation goes to thinking about starting phase 4.

    Close the airports
    Close the hospitals
    Close the curtains

Close the hospitals? Are you on the sauce?

Disagree. I've been really positive all along, same as most posters here. But there's no getting away from the small but significant rise that's occuring. That's worrying.

of course it matters, its horrible that they died, but they contracted covid in May & June and isn't an indication of the current prevalence in Ireland

Outbreaks are the challenge, low community transmission.

I know they died from covid-19 but when they did is just as important as how they died.

It's the trend that's the worry. We'll be at 100 soon if things don't improve which I can't see any way they do unfortunately.

Does the trend of increase over the past fortnight not tell you that we will be 3 figures 2 weeks from now? GPs are also reporting today a significant increase in people presenting for testing in the past week.

It's going in the wrong direction at the minute.

Edit** Sounds like it may hit the 3 figures tomorrow.

    Really?

69 is a terrible figure for Ireland

They need to start telling people which towns cases or clusters are in.

More cases coming from Kildare, Offaly and Laois tomorrow!

Advising all in those counties to come forward for a test if showing any symptoms.

    Worrying.

The government through the hse need to soften the cough of the meat factories. The vast majority of the recent cases have come from clusters associated with them.
