I'm counting almost 150 in Kildare, Laois and Dublin since that cluster was announced

From dog food factory or meat factory?

No briefing today to replace the one yesterday and despite today's major announcement

    Lol, what a "government"

The 94 cases was a ship load of immigrants that were rescued travelling from Africa

That was the main reason alright but they have had other increases due to some religious festival and a hotel pool party. Because the population in Malta is so small even these cases would've pushed them off our green list

Any idea how many days that is without deaths now?

I think it's 5 but there have only been 2 deaths in the last 12 days.

There's more people moaning on and offline about "but the pubs!1!" than there is about how Schools can safely return

I don't have kids, the fact that you couldn't get a blowjob or find a condom isn't my problem. why should thousands of people be bankrupt or out of a job because you couldn't pull out in time?

Print that out and send it to all the people who will lose their livelihoods

GAA club Laois had positive case(s)

I hope I'm very wrong but I think we'll see near 100 cases tomorrow

The only question is how many of them are from the Kildare factory and how many are from community transmission

It's a rise in community transmission I'm worried about

I have only worked in pubs for 99% of my working life. I have an occasional pint. I have a family to support including sending a child back to school. What do you suggest I do now?

Outdoor gatherings being increased to 500. Great news.

Is this just for sporting events, GAA games etc., or would music events be allowed?

The places that don't serve food are stocking up on cheap pizzas from takeaways on the same street and passing them off as their own.

Really is pathetic how half the country can't seem to function without drink.

In breaking news, only homemade pizzas protect against Covid.

Numbers from community transmission haven't been rising though.
Please provide proof from NPHET numbers that it has been rising..

Someone posts something like this every day “I think we’ll see x many cases tomorrow”. Based on nothing. And it’s always wrong. What’s the point?

It's the social aspect. If anyone wants to go get drunk, nothing stopping them. Off Licences are still open

I think this is the one nugget people are clinging to, we haven't seen a rise in community transmission as of yet, the clusters in Kildare and Offaly will eventually flush through the system providing people isolate properly.

Something is seriously wrong in Kildare. Nearly a week and a half since that cluster came to light and we're still seeing serious amounts related to it. My guess is that people who felt unwell kept going to work. Factory workers are woefully paid and perhaps couldn't go two weeks without pay.

Can we nip the whole 'rise in community transmission' thing in the bud?
The average number of community transmission cases is 31%.
    Today's figure is 8.8%, yesterday's was 10.8%.
    Hardly a rise.

    That makes no sense whatsoever.

Why is it schools vs pubs? Why not schools vs pennys? Or schools vs dunnes? Why is it that this one area of society which hasn't been open and can't be linked to the increase in cases is the one seen as the barrier to schools reopening? Seems like a lot of parents had to spend a whole summer entertaining their **** trophys and are just desperate to get rid of them......

It is Penneys (sorry to be pedantic, but it bugs me)

If all those clusters in Kildare are from the one factory it should be shut down for a few months, the resulting loss in revenue should ensure that they cop on and implement proper protocols going forward.

Is the pub reopening delay confirmed or did the indo jump the gun and get it wrong?

During one of Leo's earlier speeches he said anyone who needs to be off work for isolation will be able to apply for a payment of some sort. I don't know what his exact words were. I thought there was a social welfare payment that's not the COVID PUP but a different payment of some sort.

Can anyone clarify this please for me? Is there a social welfare payment if you need to isolate?

I'd say they jumped the gun alright to be first with the news but suspect they guessed right
