There's a fairly obvious pattern developing here

Dr Ronan Glynn, Acting Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said; “The source of transmission for over 90% of cases reported today has been identified. This is a positive development in light of the number of cases reported over the past few days.

Great on no deaths, agreed. Hopefully it's some lessening of the virus' potency, rather than the most vulnerable not having been hit yet.

"The source of transmission for over 90% of cases reported today has been identified. This is a positive development in light of the number of cases reported over the past few days.

"However, our five day average for cases reported is now 47. We all need to continue to adopt a prevention mindset and continue making good choices to protect ourselves and others while trying to live safely with COVID-19.

"People are still susceptible, this virus has not changed. We know how to break the chains of transmission. Let’s stay the course by physically distancing, washing hands regularly, wearing a face covering where appropriate, avoiding crowds and doing all we can to protect each other."

45 cases associated with known outbreaks

While this is significant in a positive sense, it shows that people are not isolating

7 averages for the past 3 weeks, if numbers start to drop during the week I'd be optimistic a hold is getting on these latest outbreaks, if numbers maintain at 40-50 then we are on the wrong trajectory

Younger people are being infected. No evidence its losing potency in America

Inevitable with the clusters we have. As has been suggested we'll probably have this level for a bit. As long as it doesn't head north steeply the contact tracing and testing should continue to do their thing well and I reckon enable most of Phase 4 to go ahead.

No it doesn't 19 of the cases are in Laois which is where one of the direct provision centres related to Kildare is.

Can't exactly isolate in there until you test postive and get moved to city west

Do you mean it is great to see that a vast majority of the new cases are associated with existing cases and not random community transmission?

286 cases this week which works out as 41 cases per day. The bad news it's the highest weekly number of cases since the first week of June. Good news once clusters are under control weekly cases should cut in half and we only had 1 death this week.

I think if you look at it, the majority of new cases are under 45. The virus hasn't changed. It's just a combination of a greater number of younger people catching it and the lag between infection and hospitalisation or death meaning the low number being hospitalised or dying reflect the new case numbers in the low to mid teens from two to three weeks ago.

Are older people not being infected as much, or have we elderly herd immunity :)
