I suppose they're reading the papers based on the research, listening to the interviews from experts, etc. An educated opinion with a touch of optimism also.

    I don't understand it.

The trials wouldn't have made it to phase 3 if it wasn't all good. We still don't have results for this phase. It can still go either way.

For my own sanity I'm off to see what's on sky movies for the night.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

    Yeah, literally shame.

If we all acted as he did the country would be in a terrible state.

Those with somewhat of an alcoholic nature have become very vocal and testy in this thread. Use to be confined to the relaxation thread but guess this is why its quietened down.

I have read some down right shocking things on this thread.

But who in the name of Jaysus has a Sky Movies subscription?

The start of lockdown drove people to do some strange things, for me it meant getting now TV with Sky Movies. I know, shameful altogether.

Bit of a lockdown crisis when netflix wasn't appealing.

Ah in fairness I’m married and happy out. I can see if I was in my early 20’s I’d be bucking for a night out and bars. It can’t be fooking easy on young people and I feel the demographic in here forgets that at times.

Phase 2 was very positive and the implication is that it has a higher chance of passing phase 3 than most vaccines do entering phase 3. (Most fail phase 3.) But it does look positive and if it isn't, it's not the only vaccine in phase 3 or in mass production. There are over 20 more in phase 1 or 2. The strong likelihood is that the vaccine will be available before too long.

Not everyone in the early 20's has a dependency on alcohol.

    Its not easy on anyone.

From the head of HR with the Vintners as per the Failte Ireland & HPSC guidelines.

Glynn can say whatever he wants but as it stands the 50 doesn't apply to businesses unless government advise otherwise.

    https://twitter.com/Kala_Management/status/1283668138505244673?s=19

This is why restrictions need to be updated to venue size. Makes no sense to allow 50 into a tiny country pub and same in a ballroom with capacity for 400+ people.

Since when does wanting to visit a pub = dependance on alcohol? What a backwards way of thinking. I’m in my early 20s and love visiting pubs for the atmosphere.

I don’t even mean alcohol, just being able to be free, shag and go on holidays

I don’t think it’s even that. If you are an alcoholic, all you want is access to be able to acquire and consume alcohol... off license, supermarket, anywhere. You might prefer to enjoy the drinks in a pub, in that atmosphere, I wouldn’t blame anyone for that, but it’s the ‘needy’ fûckwits, who can’t wrap their minds around not being able to walk into a pub, sit at the bar like usual, go for smokes, hug, kiss, laugh with and all the expected social experience.... things have changed, be like this for a while... how long a while depends on the vaccine availability and the right thing being done in our community by people.. people being cautious, disciplined, safe, community and health first instead of their wants and ‘needs’.... short term sacrifices are the keys to getting us back to normal... gotta be smart.

I'm wondering if any low cost/back to basic studies have been done in our hospitals wrt iodine nasal sprays/mouth washes or other "simple" spray types during this Covid19 pandemic or in previous flu seasons.

Pjohnson has a real bee in his bonnet about people drinking alcohol or socializing in pubs. He's like a reincarnated 1920's prohibitionist.

It's especially not easy being in your early 20's when every single increase and spike in cases is put down to young ones drinking and fornicating by the resident puritans. And yes someone once used fornicating unironically.

I dont mind alcohol and pubs pre-covid. Its just some dolts are unaware of covid and how things need to change. Its moreso the dullards incapable of change that are the problem.
