Honestly don't see the difference in reopening them on the 10th with the same guidelines as now minus the €9 meal. I was out last weekend and didn't have the €9 covid protection meal, still standing. Booked in, details taken, temperature taken, table service only.
Was in last night for 3hrs and had 6 pints, last orders 11.30 home by 12.

As you have illustrated with your 2 examples, the guidelines won't be adhered to.

What is the difference between me having 6 pints and a few chicken wings or 6 pints?? Had food before I went out so even if I had to order something it wasn't going to be eaten.

What makes it more risky in terms of me picking up covid for example ??

I'd still be sitting at the same table with the same people either way, meal or not so either way they're my close contacts

Don't you know chicken wings have anti viral properties?

The three hours is the more worrying breach of the regulations.

I didn't make up the guidelines.

But in your experience they are not being adhered to.

When non food serving pubs open those guidelines won't be adhered to either.

They'll be stretched again. You can only stretch something so much before it snaps.

I think we should be worried more about factories and construction sites than pubs to be honest

Yeah unfortunately I'd say we will have relatively high case numbers for a few days based on this

Relatively high as in you would expect to see 85 or more daily cases again in the next few days?

I'd be more worried if the tables were on top of each other and no contact details taken.

Plenty of space between tables, details taken, temperatures taken, staff wearing masks, hand sanitiser everywhere and plenty of people seem to be in the habit now of using it whenever they pass.

Thats all I need anyway, I'd rather stay in one place for 3 hours than go somewhere else after 1hr 45 mins and potentially come into contact with more people

45-55 I would say will be the max

Naive to think that they would be adhered to.Publicans putting their regulars on the clock.

All you need... You'd rather stay...

You move the goalposts to your liking. I move them to mine. Somebody else moves them to theirs. What's the point? I give up!

Is the music off now the pubs or do you still have to shout and spray if you want a conversation?

Its not moving the goalposts to my liking at all. I felt perfectly safe with the measures in place and thats what matters.

What would you rather if someone was infected that they stay in the 1 place for 3 hours or move around to a second establishment ??

I know which I'd rather and its not them moving onto a second establishment which the current time limit encourages.

Never a problem in my local.

TG4 on full time muted with subtitles.

It's the most depressing shít hole on the planet.

I can't wait to get back there for a few.

No music & no tvs on where I was last night but admittedly there wasn't any sports on last night that they'd be bothered showing.

I'm sure you felt, and were, perfectly safe but you are most certainly moving the goalposts to suit yourself.

That's like you doing 80kmph in a 50 zone and when you get caught you say sure I'm a safe driver, have never been in an accident.
It doesn't matter if if you feel safe, the regulations say max of 1 3/4 hours. Ever think some other sod would have liked to have had a pint but you were hogging the seat? It also doesn't say much about the pub you were in, you might be looking for another one if they get caught flouting the regs.

there wasn't this much uproar at the factory cases the other day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,059 ✭✭✭✭spookwoman

TBH there is a big difference between the factories and someone voluntarily breaking the regs by staying in a pub longer than they should.

One has caused 100s of cases and the other is speculation

Are they or any other pub you are going to be in this evening showing the FA Cup final?

Is there any clusters linked to pubs? I can point at least two factories that have caused clusters.

Was that before or after Stephen went on the lash?

I are talking about people not adhering to the regs and it's not speculation, he posted he was in a pub for 3 hours
Yeah in my area there's 3 not open I think but the guts of 10 or more already open and doing a decent trade.

Was in last night for 3hrs and had 6 pints, last orders 11.30 home by 12.

After Stephen went on the lash there is now 1500000 clusters in pubs and restaurants

As have many other people, and nothing has happened. Factories are causing massive amount of cases and nobody bats an eye. It's a way bigger issue.
