I've been at 15-20 matches (both GAA and soccer) and haven't seen a single dressing room in use and have had to sign in at each

We have ours closed. One of our teams went to play a friendly away from home last week and were practically encouraged to use the dressing rooms! Couldn't believe it!

The Department of Justice and Equality has said that workers at a Co Kildare pet food factory who have tested positive for Covid-19 have now been moved off-site from the Direct Provision Centres they were living in in the midlands.

    The centres are in Laois.

Greece to Reopen Six Cruise Ports on August 1

Greece will welcome back cruise traffic at six ports beginning Saturday, August 1.

According to Greek newspaper Kathimerini, Piraeus, Rhodes, Heraklion, Volos, Corfu and Katakolo will reopen to cruise ships complying with elevated health and safety protocols designed to limit the spread of coronavirus.

That means that all passengers will require a negative COVID-19 test result produced at least 72 hours prior to boarding.

"All cruise ships are welcome in Greece, so as to offer a unique experience to all their passengers," the country's Tourism Minister Haris Theocharis wrote in a letter to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), MSC Cruises, Costa and TUI Cruises. "Greece is the first country to respond to the cruise sector, introducing health protocols especially for this form of tourism. The health procedures that will apply on cruise ships under the supervision of the Greek authorities are based on EU Healthy Gateways standards and adjusted to Greek legislation and the local conditions."

Once a cruise ship docks and passes inspection at one of the aforementioned locations, it will then have access to all of the other ports.

I hope they meant all passengers and crew will require a negative covid test, the big mistake made on the Diamond Princess was that infected crew was retained to continue working.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

85 cases yesterday was far too much of a jump. The cases surrounding factories and also construction sites, tells me that compliance around social distancing measures is failing. There's no reason in the world for these work places for not implementing safe working environments and social distancing measures. It's only a matter of time unfortunately until we see daily cases rising to 100+ a day.

Yesterday I showed a slight concern over schools going back but fcuk that. There's been far too much meeting up throughout the summer without and social distancing. The schools should be going back no matter what in September.

I live quite close to a large construction site. There were roadworks close to the site where cars/vans could be stopped for up to 2 mins and I walked almost every day by them in the morning. I just want to throw my opinion in. It may have nothing to do with social distancing onsite. I saw 2/3/4 people sharing cars/vans on the way to work. I think most employers/managers are doing a great job from the gate/door of the business. But if lads from 3/4 different households continue to share transport then there is no point in worrying about measures onsite.

Wow gov goes on holidays. O'Leary serves them.
    Nice move.
The public will really be behind this action given that the prick won't refund anyone.
UK is seriously pissed considering they availed for 600 million in tax payers money while simultaneously getting the gov to pay their employees wages.
Where did the money go? Share buybacks probably.

Biggest bully boy going. Not unlike trump.

I have been at a few football matches. Small crowds but no distancing at all. Teams going into dressing rooms too(not all the time). Its outdoor so that helps mitigate it but I have been surprised. Its as if it fair to just forget about the virus in these circumstances . Contact tracing not in place at some grounds too

Some people are probably feeling that the guidelines don't apply to them.

This makes so much sense. The thing is, we are not getting any history behind the cases. All we are getting is case numbers. If we were given information about how people are behaving and picking this virus up, we would be in a better position to educate the population. You gave a fantastic example of lads travelling together.

Looks like Aer Lingus through IAG are set to back the action too. Indicated last week that they would.

Well yes and no. If two guys share a lift and then work in the same team together then interaction is limited, they are two household but only two. The real damage comes from people moving around working with different people during the day. People share lifts with the same people every day and perhaps feel somewhat responsible for not behaving at other times in a way that will infect these.

    LATEST TESTING UPDATE

Tests conducted last 24 hours: 3856
Tests conducted last 7 days: 40652
    Additional positive tests: 29
Positivity Rate last 7 days: 0.6%

    Expect mid 20s

Would I be right in saying 3,856 is one of the lowest daily counts for tests in a while, particularly at the end of a week? Usually Fridays increase towards the 8,000/9,000 mark that we have over the weekends, if memory serves.

Yep, nursing home testing has ended and the only testing underway rn is hospitals and community, as usual

    I'm sure you do.

I had saying back in March, "It could be worse at least we are not on a Cruise Ship".

Yea there's people travelling all over Ireland to Dublin for construction jobs and sharing lifts. Construction also be hard going where people will be breathing heavier just like the meat factories. Also some of the works on sites need to be done by multiple people at one time.

Yes my husband works in construction and was saying its hard to socially distance for a lot of their work.

They were also told by management that the Townsend St cluster was initially caused by three non-tradesmen who were sharing a laptop. One of these was a close contact of a member from a gaa club that was closed down due to Covid. Lift sharing wasn’t mentioned, but they’ve all been supplied with masks.
I imagine there’s lots of close contact and it’s tough physical work a lot of the time so maybe that’s a factor in the spread of droplets.

The Dutch look like they could be heading for a spot of trouble.

    No surprise really.
From a medical point of view, there is no evidence of a medical effect of wearing face masks, so we decided not to impose a national obligation," said Dutch Medical Care Minister Tamara van Ark late Wednesday, after a meeting with health experts and mayors.

Belgium were whittling the same sort of nonsense not so long ago, they 180'd pretty spectacularly.

Per worldometers the number of recoveries has crossed 11 million people. Likely many multiples of that.

July 9th I believe since we had a day with under 4,000 tests.

Good. Great. I never thought I would say this, but I am 100% in support of Ryanair and although unlikely, I hope they sue and bankrupt the living hell of these bunch of clowns.

Doesn't matter who is in the right or wrong about reopening something or not - the utter purposeful confusion and mixed messaging debacle that has taken the piss on the entire country needs a reckoning.

Hope they ruin the government down to the ground.

You hope a private company whose soul motivation is profit gets to dictate public health policy during a once in a generation deadly pandemic?

    I don't.

I know Ryanair's motivation is profit, but doesn't matter, it seems that no one is capable of holding the government accountable and demanding that they do a more cohesive job, so if anything prods them into making more firm and coherent decisions, I am all for it. And if not, I hope they indeed get sued down to the ground.

The government hasn't even been close to strict enough about travel and you're backing Ryanair?
