It's not going to happen either because it'll just cause arguments. Who wants that sort of hassle in their jobs?

I know and totally understand that. In some shops it must be hard to deal with some customers even in normal circumstances.

Or maybe rather than immediately panicking over a single day's figures, it might be better to see how things look over a week or fortnight.

As for masks. The curve was flattened or whatever cliche you prefer without them and the numbers have remained steadily low for the last month - including before the kneejerk reaction of a flailing new government to make them mandatory in limited situations

I'm tired of reading the fear mongering and personal attacks from people who can't see the wood from the trees. Mask up has become the new stay home and it's just as unnecessary for the majority of people.

The worst part of all this is how people like yourself seem to be unable to recognise this as a good thing.

What does that bit mean if you don't mind me asking

Punishment is the answer. Admonish them, punish them. Let them starve if need be. Sick of their naked faces.

Depends on the shop. If it's a big chain store and a low level minion manning the door they why should they bother with the hassle, a shop operated by the owner though and I'd expect them to be a bit more concerned about people coming in and potentially infecting them and so putting their whole business on the line. But that also depends on how many people they get through the door and how valuable a single customer is to them.

Paddygreen if you have nothing of substance to add then don't post, right now you're just winding everybody up and that won't end well

Is any small Spar/Centra type shop going to bother refusing to serve a customer without a mask when they run in for a pint of milk at 10 at night?

How can it be enforced in a large shopping centre or supermarket?

Are staff or business owners actually bothered to enforce it?

Just back from Tesco dun laoghaire. Only 30% customers wearing masks. Actually shocked.

Realised I forgot my mask last night in a small empty shop at nearly 10 last night and then thought what harm am I doing anyway.

Costco handles it great. It's as simple as don't ring up the pint of milk. After the examples are made, the Karens will diminish.

    It can be done.

Extremeley rude customer complained that I wasn't wearing a mask the other day in work. I told her there was no legislation to back this up and I was compliant with company policy, I pointed her to the customer service desk and told she was free to complain to her hearts content.

The local shop here will certainly refuse you entry at any time if you don't wear a mask. They have been very strict on it.

What made her extremely rude? The audacity to ask you why you were being so inconsiderate of public health and safety?

The fact you use the term muzzle up...ffs.

You don't think it might more have something to do with people moving about, places opening up again, restrictions lifting and a lot of people heading back to work? No?

Em the complete lack of any sort of basic manners. I nearly wouldn't have minded if she was at least polite. I'm not required to wear a mask at work for the time being so I will not wear a mask at work. They are too hot and uncomfortable to wear all day.

What does your fetish for being forced into a muzzle have to do with decent people who wear masks?

So her only slight against you was asking why you wore no mask. Figured as such. She's a saint.

It's 31 C in South Carolina right now and we still wear masks here. What sweatshop do you work in, exactly

    1) ^ Wear it properly you plank
    2) you're on a Teams call, alone in your hotel room, it's not needed there and just triggers the 'maskzi' culture-warriors.

Not wearing a mask could be viewed as a complete lack of any sort of basic manners, could it not?

I've spoken with a few people who find masks very hot, the majority of them realised they were not breathing through their nose, air cools down substanitaly more when it travels the nose route, also more efficent filtering system.

Re-education retreats might be something for the government to look into, offenders could be sent to some institution in Roscommon or somewhere for a few weeks of basic training and seminars about how to function in our collective society. It would be money well spent.
