I know. My point is that they are not a definitive tool for assessing whether or not a person had the virus. In the future there may be different way to test for that. But right now as a method for assessing how many people in a community were infected, they are probably not providing accurate results. The test in itself isn't wrong but it isn't the test that will provide the information being being looked for from it.

Well it not a definitive tool because covid has only been around for 6-7 months.

Seroprevalence relies on testing the level of antibodies in the population, we still don’t know what role lymphocytes play in covid and wether people can be reinfected again.

Diagnostics companies are now developing a combination of Anti-N and Anti-S assays to improve detection.

There's something on prime time where some gastro pubs are not following the guidelines and rules.

    I'm just thinking something:
Have staff been trained in any infection control measures? I know infection control would mainly be for healthcare settings. I was thinking that in hotels and restaurants and other eating establishments, waitresses clearing up used crockery from tables, that task should be considered somewhat of a dirty task. Are they handling dirty dishes and bringing them to the wash up area and turning around and picking up clean plates for serving to different tables.

Transmission like this would probably be very minimal but there's probably still a risk of contamination in such a scenario.

Good to see RTE interviewing a fella in his own living room incorrectly wearing a medical face mask, not covering his nose. #STAYTHE****HOME

So in Spain they started to do anti body testing, now they are detecting many more people with covid 19.So the second wave is an increase of detections which looks terrible but hospital admissions should be the number to determine a crisis.
Same in England, check out k Hopkins latest video, she hits the nail on the head.
If you use Instagram check out covid19 hash tag. This isn't a pandemic.

I think we need some tough measures over here as well.

We don't we are doing quite well. You were noticeable by your absence yesterday when low numbers were reported.

I wasn't aware the UK had released any antibody testing results. How many of their new cases today were antibody cases?

What is going on in Manchester? No two household allowed to meet indoors but the seem to be keeping pubs and restaurants open? How do you even police that? I found the not being able to have anyone visit the worst part of our whole lockdown, I’d hate if that was us right now. Today seems to be a bit of bad news day :-(

Feel bad for the Kerry publican on PT.
He held up Melbourne as an example in that they were allowed to remain open.
Bit unfortunate given the resurgence there.

There is nothing scientific about what she said. Common sense actually. A surge in numbers of detection but no surge in people being hospitalised. I'm really glad I don't live in Ireland. Everything here has been normal for months.

Well "one half" seems determined to alter and re-define that normal world at all costs

Ireland is a borderline lunatic asylum these days with many of enjoying day release. Where are you based?
Hopkins gave a perfectly reasoned calm insight. It's more fashionable to hate her though than to actually listen to what she is saying.

There is a time lag between infection and hospitalisation.

Also, there are signs that the virus is spreading in young people, who would not directly result in hospital figures, but can result in uncontained community spread, for which we have all paid sacrifices to avoid.

    This should be obvious.
