Not the most auspicious of beginnings at all. Think it was supposed to wrap up today and come back in September. There's nothing more scheduled after today as far as I can see.

Do we really need another left wing party?

The Social Democrats sort of fills that void along with People Before Profit etc.

    A Left Green Party perhaps.

A Green party with some sense of ethics and a care for the tax payer. Not all Green 'solutions' need be heavy on taxation. To cite my old pal Enda, it's as much to do with 'changing the way we do business'.

No a good enough reason to give other party's a free pass.

Of course not. They say in Australia that you should never work for a paddy boss. They will work you hard. Our politicians are paddy bosses. It's in the Irish psyche. Greed and an idea that once in power you are better than those below you.
    It's our nature.

If you want something different you will have to move because it will never ever change. It cant.

The EU are looking to push an eu wide levy which will include a tax on big tech. This will affect the cash that the exchequer collects from them. Vital money for Ireland. A tax take figure that will be higher than the total amount of vat collected this year.

Misery, austerity and tax increases. We ain't seen nothing yet

If you mean pulling down the government then it's a bit better than evens at present. If you mean behaving like they are in government then they are definitely going to lose a few bodies.

Hard to see how this Government will last until Christmas. Fair chance it will collapse at the budget.

They're being backed by almost 10 independents though which gives them more wiggle room.

Who's everyone voting for in #GE2021?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,162 ✭✭✭LawBoy2018

This fella is actually braindead: https://www.rte.ie/radio/radioplayer/html5/#/radio1/21811236

FF TDs are genuinely a different breed..

The Greens were always flakey as F. You either get the old John Gormley "whats in it for me" type or the more crazy stuff we are seeing now. Mad people are not fit to govern anything

    On the side of herself.

Ryan needs to to either kick her out of the party, or whip her into place.

Can’t have this shiïte going on.

    Precisely.

They absolutely have to kick her out of the party, because if they don't then there'll be Green TDs voting against the whip whenever their waters or horoscope tells them to.

Anyone but the IRA, the Greens or the Soc Dems.

Maybe Alan Kelly's duds deserve a chance.

Yes.... a lot of folk who were in opposition and spending the fruit of the ‘money tree’ like there was no tomorrow, now realizing they are playing ‘senior hurling’

Some of the ‘leaders’ need to grow a set and shunt these ‘individuals’ out.

The need to realise they are now plAying for a team, not a la carte players.

Ryan needs to act....and act fast.

Ryan is a greedy coward who would drop Hourigan in a heartbeat, but Martin would never allow it.

The Bill put forward today was a farce and Hourigan was right to call it out for what it was.

EU are looking to introduce eu wide tax levy on big tech, plastics and something else I can't remember

Austerity and tax increases will be required to collect and pay back loans on time.

    Dont work for a paddy

Love to see Labour get their act together but dont think Alan is the man. But cant think of anyone else. The left is totally fragmented and distracted with loons and charlatans. Plus the Sinn Fein fascist party inserted in the middle of it all sucking up votes which will always be wasted. Hard to see how or who could unify the left into any kind of rational alternative

All too interested in holding on to their own seats, which of course they couldn’t do if in govt.

Once they would have the hard decisions to make that would be the end of them.

And there will be hard decisions to make.

Nah mate, you won’t see those coves In govt anytime soon.

    They don’t want responsibility.

I'm talking about the terrible eu budget result for Ireland.

    I'm talking real life.

Anyone with a bit of experience about them

Proportional representation is not best for our country .

"Small Parties Get Too Many Concessions in Coalition Governments

Critics of PR are also concerned that small parties may exercise undo power in the ruling coalitions. They fear that these small parties can use their leverage to wring concessions from their larger coalition partners, perhaps resulting in the adoption of radical policies not supported by most voters"

    Sound familiar

So in other words they don't say anything in Australia about working for an Irish boss?
