I haven't read all of the recent comments but is there a County by County breakdown of the reported 85 Cases ?

    Thanks.

26 of the cases are in Kildare, 18 in Dublin, 11 in Clare, nine in Laois, seven in Limerick and four in Meath. The remainder are spread across seven other counties.

Zero chance schools will be opening at full capacity in 4 weeks time. The virus is on the march again and we haven't even reached Autumn never mind Winter.

CMO just said the complete opposite regarding schools.

He literally just said watch the next few days and he would hope tomorrow and Saturday show reduced numbers back in line with the average up to today.

Its quite obvious they've been tracing and testing these clusters for at least a week now.

County by county breakdown is a day behind announcements of case numbers in official HPNET statement publication. Gave some of numbers in briefing but full breakdown will be published tomorrow.

I'm actually feeling very confident in our response after tonight's press conference, more so than I have been for the last week.

We are WELL on top of this.

It really was quite impressive to hear the amount of work put in on the ground over the last week in terms of outbreak control teams, tracing and testing.

As Glynn said himself a few months ago we wouldn't have caught alot of these cases

Zara King asking about weddings - translated as should I be shopping for my outfit now or wait

He literally said he hopes for schools to open, cases are not going up, contact tracing is working. What does that translate to?

Cases not going up? There was 85 cases today mate!

Zara King and the wedding question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    She is trolling us.

Still ? Does anyone know was she supposed to be getting married before the pandemic ? It's the only logical explanation as to why she seems to always ask this question.

Email the CMO and ask why he said that, you might learn how to read why it's true.

Those are Northern plates, so they are not necessarily Brits.

Backward parochial nonsense. After Covid 19 hysteria is long gone these lot will be damn glad of the revenue these tourists will bring. If I was a dub I wouldn’t be too bothered about Wexford ever again..they all but had the pitchforks ready at Inch last April for dubs

I find this thread quite sad. I feel sorry for the people who seem afraid to set foot outside their homes and can only think the worst. It is no way to live. I would suggest you talk to someone. I think counsellors are provided web based sessions. It is not healthy to constantly have such a negative mindset. We should be thankful the situations has been pretty well managed in this country if we consider what has happened elsewhere.

And the picture is Waterford city, I wonder did he get them to roll down the windows to find out where they are going! Great front page for Waterford News and Star I guess.

It's a disgrace to be honest that some people refuse to appreciate the work that is going on behind the scenes to handle these outbreaks. You're dead right that we should be thankful.

Weddings have been going ahead, just with only 50 people indoors.

Way more than 50 people at them.

What are you saying? Are you denying that there was an increase today?

Are you just being ignorant? There has not been an increase in community spread. At all. They literally said it.

Bizarre positivity tbh. No country just has a blip of 80 cases. It grows exponentially from yes initial clusters. The contact tracing involved will be too much to trace every case effectively. Its a bad day and the CMO is understandably worried.

Way more than 50 people at them.

Ah now, ya didn't say that! But the 50 includes staff as well, so really only small weddings should be going ahead.

They’ve been like that along....it’s their “new normal” as it were and increased cases only gives them further validation for the lives of fear. Easily 20% of the general population ate whipped up in this thing. Mainly people that don’t do a whole lot anyway with their lives

    This!

I mean, ****ing hell... It's alarming seeing this place full of fear.
The situation is what it is, make the most of it. Worrying and fearing about numbers going up, putting your life on hold isn't helping you

Posting this again for those who choose to ignore it.
Dr. Glynn, acting CMO: "no need for a knee-jerk reaction, this is a good thing that they've been picked up, and contact tracing is working fully"
"Vast majority of cases can be accounted for, we know where they come from. It's a significant number but reflects the fact that the numbers of outbreaks identified over the past few weeks have been identified and acted upon quickly."

Prof. Nolan, chair of modelling team: "I disagree that numbers are going up. Transmission is being supressed with some clusters superposed. Realistically, numbers have only gone up for 1 day."

They literally said during the press conference that work has been ongoing since last week in terms of tracing the factory cluster and proving quite effective.

Glynn literally praised the outbreak control teams saying a few months ago these cases wouldn't have been picked up. Kind of the opposite of what your suggesting

For some reason I get torn apart on here when I state the very obvious that she shouldn't be allowed into the briefings

She, very weirdly, actually has her "defenders" on Boards

I've been saying for weeks that she's an absolutely, fcuking appalling reporter

Grows exponentially from community transmission. They fact it's not rampant in the community means the cases in clusters can be contained. The factory has had outbreak teams in a week now, so we'll know in the next few days how well contained it is.

The Sligo cluster and the Dublin building sites had the same panic and now it's all forgotten about as they were contained and didn't lead to wide spread community transmission.
